Piper

Piper was completely, absolutely mad at Leo. He was just standing there, as if nothing had happened, as if he didn't die, as if he didn't sacrifice himself without anyone knowing. And then he smiled and said those words. That's what pushed Piper over the edge.

—-——————————————————————————-

Piper never really considered herself a violent person. But she did beat up Leo and threaten to torture him beyond his wildest nightmares if he ever pulled another stunt like that again.

When everyone sat down for dinner, Chiron said, "Well, as I'm sure everyone knows, Leo Valdez is not dead and he has returned to camp. Leo, please come here." Leo walked over a little slowly, probably aching from all the bruises from the punches everyone gave him. Chiron put a hand on Leo's shoulder and said warmly, "I'm very glad that you're alive, child." Then he kicked out his front hoof and socked Leo in the stomach. Leo doubled over, coughing. "And don't ever do this kind of stupidly brave act ever again," Chiron continued in the same sweet voice. "Yes, Chiron," mumbled Leo and hobbled back to his seat.

Everyone laughed and began eating their dinner. The pavilion became very noisy from all the chatter and laughter from the campers.

Piper studied Leo and Calypso. They were clearly in love, Piper could tell. After all, she wasn't the daughter of Aphrodite for nothing. "Hey." She turned to find Jason. She turned back to Leo and Calypso. Calypso was trying to get Leo to eat something healthy.

"What are you thinking about?" Jason asked. "Leo and Calypso," Piper replied. "What about them?" "Well, they seem perfect for each other. Polar opposite personalities, that's what attracts them." Jason was surprised. "You mean, they're dating?" Piper turned back around to look at him. "Isn't it obvious, Sparky? Leo went all the way over to Ogygia without even knowing for sure if his navigation device would work," Piper teased, whacking him on the head lightly. He seemed to look at the couple in a whole new different way.

                                              ———————————————————————-

Frank and Hazel had arrived from Camp Jupiter. They were absolutely gobsmacked that Leo was alive. Hazel beat Leo with her satchel repeatedly, crying and saying, "I hate you, I hate you," over and over again and then finally hugging him until his ribs almost broke. Frank also enveloped Leo is a bone-crushing hug, saying nothing else. Reyna couldn't come, as there was still much to be done at Camp Jupiter. Chiron filled them in about the wizards and the mission.

Suddenly dark clouds formed outside. Thunder boomed. Then lightning struck just outside the entrance of the pavilion. In its place stood a girl dressed in a Death to Barbie shirt, jeans and a silver circlet on her spiky black hair. She held a spear in her hand, lightning tendrils running through it. The daughter of Zeus entered the pavilion and was immediately tackled to the ground by Annabeth, who was screaming, "Thalia! It's been so long!"

Thalia stood up and pulled Annabeth up too. "Annabeth! You ruined my dramatic entrance!" she whined. "Nice to see you alive, Pinecone Face," Percy said and enveloped Thalia into a hug. Jason joined them too. "Alright, alright, it's nice to see everyone. Now get off me," she ordered. Thalia sat down next to Jason. Piper made some small talk with her and shared the adventures she'd been on on the Argo II.

Just as Piper was finishing her dinner, a blinding golden light filled the room. Piper shielded her eyes from the glare. About a minute later, the light began to subside. In the middle of the room now stood a young woman wearing a dark sleeveless gown. Her golden hair was tied up in a high ponytail, Ancient-Greek style. Her black dress seemed to ripple like ink. At her feet were two wispy animals. A black Labrador retriever and a polecat. Her hands held two old-fashioned reed torches, lit. She radiated power and the Mist clung to her in clouds.

Piper knelt down on one knee. "Lady Hecate." Everyone followed her example and knelt down. "Up, my heroes," said Hecate in a melodious voice. "Chiron, I hope you have enlightened these demigods about the wizarding community?" "Of course, Lady Hecate," Chiron said. "Good. Head counsellors please follow me, we shall discuss about your mission to Hogwarts in detail. And of course, Hazel and Frank, please come with, you will represent Camp Jupiter. Thalia, you too, you will represent the Hunters of Artemis."

Piper rose and followed Hecate outside, forming a line of demigods, with Chiron at the back. She led them deep into the forest, to her shrine, Piper realised. Lou Ellen had insisted that her mother's shrine be built in the peaceful, natural depths of the forest. The shrine was made of obsidian and gold. Thin strands of gold and black were woven together in an intricate design on the top of the shrine. Roman style black pillars stood at each corner, to incorporate the Roman side of Hecate as well.

Hecate glided inside and stood at the far back of the room. Piper was in awe of the shrine. The black and gold went together very beautifully and the designing was on point. She stood on the right side next to Jason. The demigods arranged themselves in a stiff U formation, with Hecate being the bend. Hecate clapped her hands once and said, "So. Let us get started with this mission."
