Annabeth

Annabeth felt like throwing the Fates into a boiling pit of rotten tomatoes. Then choking them with a rope made of rocks. And then repeat for the rest of eternity.

Annabeth was sitting in one of the Quidditch stands. There was no one else there other than Dean and Seamus, who were in the opposite stand, sitting incredibly close. Way too close to be just friends. They didn't seem to notice Annabeth.

Annabeth kept thinking about the Norse demigods. And Valkyrie. And dwarf. And elf. And floating, talking sword. Unfortunately, they didn't just come here for a vacation. They'd come with a prophecy.

As soon as Magnus had started reciting the prophecy to the demigods, Annabeth had come here. She couldn't bear to listen to another one. People at camp might say that it was unlike Annabeth to run away from a prophecy, but she did. All she wanted was some peace.

She sensed movement. She turned to her left and saw Magnus climbing up the stairs. She managed a small smile. "Hey."

"Hey." Magnus settled down next to her, putting his legs in the stand in front of them. They stayed in silence for a long time.

"I'm sorry," Magnus said suddenly.

"Don't be. It's just that the Fates don't want me and Percy to just, you know, live," Annabeth snapped.

Magnus looked at her in surprise for a second and returned to looking at his feet.

Another three minutes of silence.

"Sorry, I just. . . I can't do this again. I'm tired," Annabeth said finally, looking at Magnus. She continued, "And I'm angry at the gods for letting this happen again. And I'm. . . sad. Sad that me and Percy might never get some peace."

Magnus was opening and closing his mouth like a fish. "Uh - well - I –"

Annabeth wanted to laugh. One of the most positive and sunshine-y people she knew was struggling to find the positive in her life. Maybe the fact that she wanted to laugh at that meant she was going crazy.

Then she felt bad about being so cynical. There were plenty of good things in her life. Like, uh, Percy, her friends at camp, Percy, saving her friends, Percy, finding out she wasn't about to die, Percy, her family and Percy. Yeah.

Annabeth couldn't let her emotions take over. Not now at least. She needed to take control of her mind. And the only way to do that is to make it work. Figure out the prophecy.

"Magnus, what's the prophecy?" She asked.

"Okay, uhm." He cleared his throat.

Forbidden worlds come together and meet

For together only would they be able to defeat

Powerful immortal rising from his bonds

Together Olympians and heroes from worlds beyond

The sword of the sun

The wand of the fallen hero

The sword of the sea

Combine to deathly destroy

The bane of the world

As the cold begins

The goddess in chains must be freed, if not

Magic powers cease to exist

That is one long prophecy, was Annabeth's first thought. And didn't they usually rhyme? Maybe the Norns aren't as creative.

"Okay it makes sense now, why you came here," she said. Magnus nodded.

"Sword of the sea, sword of the sun, wand of the fallen hero. Percy, me and a wizard or witch. Who here is a fallen hero?" Magnus asked.

"Well, I've heard rumours that Harry died once but I'm not sure. They never talk about the war when we ask," she replied. "We'll also need the gods' help." She couldn't help making an ugh inwardly.

"The goddess in chains?"

"It could be Hecate, she IS the goddess of magic. If she is captured, then it would make sense why the wizards' wands are malfunctioning," she mused.

"So we have to find out who's rising from his bonds, where Hecate is, convince the gods to help, which bane of the world the prophecy talks about and figure out how to defeat it," Magnus summed up, counting on his fingers.

"Yep. Easy peasy. Oh, and don't forget, we have to do it all before 'the cold begins'. Sounds a bit melodramatic if you ask me." Annabeth couldn't help smiling when she saw Magnus's face.

"Ahh, yes. Easy peasy," Magnus said, rolling his eyes. He leant back heavily on the stand behind them, making exasperated noises.

Annabeth copied him. She changed the subject. "So you and Alex, huh? Finally, you guys were tip-toeing around each other since forever."

She could see Magnus's ears go pink. "No, we weren't!"

"Oh please, you were practically combusting each time she looked at you. And you were making goo-goo eyes at each other."

"Annabeth! I was not combusting and we were not making goo-goo eyes at each other!" he whisper-shouted, sitting up.

"Sure Magnus, keep telling yourself that."

"I will never talk to you again!" Magnus said, getting up and making his way down.

"Alex and Magnus, sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G," she called in a sing-song voice.

Magnus made a very rude gesture with his hand at her and headed back to the castle.

Annabeth wasn't usually the childish kind, teasing about love. But today she wanted to feel like a child. She didn't have time to before.

                                           ——————————————————————

Annabeth found Percy lying on his stomach on the floor of the Gryffindor common room, face-down and spread-eagled and absolutely still. Annabeth sighed.

"Percy."

Percy mumbled something incoherent. It sounded a bit like 'I nee muh pandah'.

Annabeth laid down next to him. She lifted his arm off the floor, snuggled in closer to his side and then let Percy's arm fall on her. He mumbled something again and adjusted himself so that he was resting his head on Annabeth's arm and hugged her close.

"Love you," he muttered.

"I love you too." She kissed his forehead softly.

Then Annabeth drifted off to asleep.

                                        —————————————————————————

Annabeth woke up when she heard the door creak open. She couldn't see who was standing there because of the light coming from outside. But then a familiar voice spoke,

"Well, well, what have we here?"

A/N Hii! It's been a long time, I know. I did write this chapter earlier but I wasn't satisfied so I had to rewrite the whole thing. I'm sorry that my updates have become erratic, but I'm trying to work through this massive  writers block and hopefully I can upload regularly soon. Anyway, thank you very much for the votes and comments, I really love hearing what you guys have to say about my story. Also, we reached 1.7k which is absolutely and ridiculously crazy. Thank you all so much! Bye :)
