Chapter 4

Bethany

            No. This is the hottest guy ever I can’t have him camp with us I’m going to end up looking like a fool if he goes camping with us.

            He is just looking at me with concern written all over his face.

            “What’s wrong? Are you all right? Does your leg hurt? I’ll get the doctor.” He starts to head out towards the door. Huh funny I didn’t even notice when everyone left the room.

            “Wait it’s not my leg I’m just shocked that you would want to go camping with us. I mean you could be spending your time doing something completely different and it not being a waste of your time.” I rushed to get out before left.

            His body is starting to shake and he clinches his fists at his side.

            “Chase? Are you okay?” I nervously ask him. I stand and wince at the pain. I just ignore it and slowly limp to where he is standing in the room.

            “Chase?” I ask as I put my hand on his shoulder.

            Suddenly he takes a deep breath and he stops shaking and clinching his fists. He slowly turns to face me.

            “Trust me. There is no other place that could be more important than making sure you girls are safe all right?” As he tries to explain, but I’m too focused on how his eyes are now pitch black.

            I guess when he is mad his eyes go black.

            “Why were you so upset with my question?” I shyly ask him. I’m nervous he will get bad at my question and hurt me. Not that I think he will hurt me because I feel safe in his presence, but something in the way he was speaking and how his eyes were black kind of terrified me.

            Chase turns my head so I’m look at him. Suddenly his eyes go back to their blue color.

            “Hey. What’s wrong?” He asks as he cups my cheek with both of his hands. Chase then runs his thumb under my eye and I realize I’m crying.

            “I don’t know. Your eyes and voice just scared me I guess.”

            His face instantly pales. “I didn’t mean to scare you. I would never hurt you intentionally. You need to know that I would never purposely hurt you no matter how mad I get at you ever alright?”

            I just nod my head in understanding.

            It’s a little strange how he feels so passionately towards my feelings when we barely know each other. In a way though it’s comforting.

            I chill suddenly runs down my back how strange.

            “Come on let’s go we should get back to where we will be camping. I don’t want to get back to late at night.”

            Chase says he then leads me out of the cabin type house and everyone is just standing there in a big group.

            Okay Bethany you have always wanted that one guy to treat you like a princess and make sure you never get hurt, but I pictured myself actually getting to know the guy before he would start to act this way.

            Well I’m stuck with him for a week and only a week. So once this week is over I will never have to see this guy again or that’s what I keep telling myself.
