Chapter 7

Bethany

Someone shakes me awake and I groan. It’s too early to wake up.

            “Five more minutes.” I mumble.

A deep chuckle catches me off guard and my eyes fly open. Kneeling next to me is Chase and all I can think is how good he looks. Realizing I’m still in my sleeping bag I pull a blanket over my face. I just know he just saw how terrible I look.

“Ugh what are you doing here?” I grumble.

“I want to show you something.” I pull back my blanket to see him and he is giving me a shy smile.

“What exactly do you want to show me?” I quickly check my phone and see it’s five am. “At five in the morning?”

He quickly rips the blanket away from me and pulls me out of my sleeping bag. “It’s a surprise. So get dress we leave in like two minutes.”

Chase slips out of the tent while I’m just staring after him in confusion. What does he want to show me?

I quickly change from my pajamas to a pair of pants with a sweatshirt. Then I put my hair up into a ponytail and slip out of the tent trying not to disturb the other girls.

I find Chase sitting on a log by the campfire, but once I’m out of the tent he stands and he comes towards me.

“Oh and also bring your camera.”

I hurry back into the tent and grab my camera. Once I’m back outside with Chase he starts to walk off and he motions for me to follow him.

I fall into a steady pace with him right in front of me.

Where could he be taking me? Also why does he want me to bring my camera?

“Will we make it back in time to leave with everyone else to go boating?” I ask. I would be really disappointed if I missed boating just because Chase wanted to show me something.

Chase just turns and for a moment I get lost in his blue eyes. I stumble and he quickly catches me before I fall.

“S-sorry.” I stutter and a blush rises to my checks.

I can’t believe I just tripped because I was looking into his eyes. He is going to think I’m a crazy loser for sure now.

“Hey it’s no problem.” As he talks he tilts my head up so I’m looking into is ocean blue eyes and for a second time I’m lost in them.

While I’m looking at him and standing in his arms I feel completely safe like nothing could ruin my mood right now.

Looking up into his eyes I see a glance of his feels and hope rises in my chest. I see a look of concern, but it quickly changes to a look of admiration.

It feels like I have been looking into his eyes forever, but it was most likely only for a moment before he starts to pull away. Chase doesn’t pull his hand out from mine though as he continues to lead me to this mystery location.
