My Guardian Wolf

Chapter 10

Chase

 

            “How did they get through the guards?” I asked in a deadly calm voice.

            For over a week now rogues have been getting through our guards and terrorizing our people. It’s starting to really piss me off. Our top fighters, Adam, Joey, and I have been going all over and changing our security around, but they still somehow are getting through and we need to find out how.

            I know what they want; they made it pretty clear when they attacked Bethany and Marcy last week. They had tried to drag Bethany out of my territory. It’s frustrating not knowing why they want her, but my guess is that they are trying to hurt me by taking the most important thing to me.

            “Sir, there has to be some other way maybe a hidden underground path? Otherwise I have no idea we have guards all over on boarder there is no other explanation as to how they are getting through.” One of the guards said to me.

            Anger surges through me because they are trying to hurt me. The other reason being I haven’t seen Bethany since she was asleep in the hospital room. Once she woke up Trent didn’t want me to see her because he told her about werewolves and he wanted her to understand werewolves before he got into the whole mate thing.

            Which I totally understand, but it is physically painful to be away from her for so long. It is also really hard because I know the threat on her and I’m not with her makes me a little anxious.

            “Send trackers out to see if they can find where they are coming from. Also I want people under surveillance we have to have someone in the pack that is there inside man and I don’t like it at all.”

            “Chase?”

            “Yeah what’s up Adam?”

            “I think we need to find out why the rogues are after Beth. That why we can come up with a better plan.”

            “Alright. We need to keep this quite no one knows she is what the rogues are after except Trent, Joey, you and I and I want it to stay that why.”

            “No problem. I’ll start with figuring out who her parents are.”

            “Alright good. I’m going to go let some pressure off by going to a run.” I don’t wait for a response I just walk out of the room leaving Adam behind. Once I’m to the forest I don’t even bother with taking my clothes off I just shift right away and start running.

            It feels good to be in my wolf form. Only problem being in my wolf makes not knowing where Bethany is a lot harder to deal with.

            So instead of focusing on Bethany I use my sense to focus on the feeling of the wind rushing through my fur and the cool forest floor. Once the sun starts to set I decide to go to the lake.

            I quickly change back to my human form and I lay down to watch the stars. What am I going to do? I need to protect Bethany, but Trent won’t let me see her. Well I’ll just have to talk to Trent about this arrangement tomorrow I won’t go another day without seeing my mate.
