Chapter 8

Bethany

 

            After an hour of just boating around the lake we were finally able to start to tube. I decided to wait until this afternoon hoping for it to warm up a bit more before tubing. So Grandpa Trent has me as the watcher in case someone were to fall off.

            Oh trust me Grandpa made sure everyone fell off at least once and it was funny because no one ever saw it coming when he would do a donut or do a tight turn all of a sudden.

            The funniest reaction of everyone one though was my younger sister Kara. She isn’t an out doors type of girl, but she isn’t like a princess girl she just doesn’t like nature.

            We just finished the last tubing ride and now we are heading to my grandparents secret place. Well it’s not a secret anymore since they take everyone here, but we still love calling it the secret place.

            “Hey Bethany could you help tie up the boat please?” Grandpa asks as we approach the little boat dock; that I helped my Grandpa make about 10 years ago.

            “Yes sir.” I say and walk towards the front of the boat as everyone else is still in the back goofing off.

            I quickly tie the front of the boat up then I head to the back to tie up the back part only issue is the Chase is in my way.

            “Excuse me?”

            Chase just looks up and smiles at me as he says, “What can I do for you?”

            “Can you please move I have to tie the boat up?” I give him a pleading look with my eyes.

            He smirks, and he turns around and ties the back up for me.

            “You didn’t have to do that.” I state to him.

            “All you have to do is thank me.”

            “Thank you. Again though grandpa asked me to do it.” I try to reason with him.

            “Well I wanted to help you so get over it and come on everyone else is already seated on the little beach over there.” Chase points and I look in that direction so see everyone is already sitting about and they are all just waiting for us to come.

            “Oh.” That’s all I say as I walk off the boat and quickly get to everyone else.  I fell Chase right behind me as we reach everyone else.

            “Everything alright?” Grandpa asks as he scolds Chase.

            “Everything is perfectly fine.” Chase says in a tight voice. I just give him a questioning look, but he just nods it off as fi it’s nothing. He then walks away from me to sit with his two friends.

            A stinging pain hits me when he walks away. It’s like my body doesn’t want him to reject me in away.

            I don’t know if he is upset at me, but it makes me nervous.

            Before I know it lunch is over, and we are all packing up.

            “Bethany?”

            “Yes?” I turn and see grandma walking up to me.

            “Dear lets let everyone else finish up here and I think we need to take a little walk.”
