Gibbs walked to the conference room. Mcgee was waiting for him inside with the victim, Barks wife. Gibbs placed the cup of coffee he was holding on the desk. “Here. Drink it.” The woman grabbed the coffee and took a sip. “I know it’s hard Mrs. Barks, but we need to ask you some questions.” “OK. But you can call me Lydia.” Gibbs sat down and asked her. “Tell me what happened before Cullen’s death.” “I knew my husband was hiding something from me. He walked away every time his phone rang. I knew it was her.” “Why? How did you know?” She bit her lip, and you could see her anger growing inside of her. “He cheated on me. With her.” “I’m sorry.” “You don’t have to. Our marriage is so exhausting. Sometimes I wish that he would just tell me the truth so I can get a divorce.” Mcgee wrote that down and asked her: “What happened on the day Cullen got killed?” “I do not know. I was not in town. My kids and I were by their grandparents that day.” “So, you don’t know what happened?” “No, I don’t. But I know that she killed him not my husband. I know he did some illegal things, but he could never murder someone.” “Did she tell you something?” “Yes, she repeated that she would not go to jail, that she would have to kill me to protect herself. And she said that Walther would regret what he did.” “Did she say anything specific?” “No, she just yelled at me and walked up and down the room.” Gibbs stood up again. “Thank you, Mrs. Barks. We contact you if we need your help.” Mcgee stood up as well and they walked out. They met Abby in the hallway: “Hey Gibbs. I’ve checked the knife. There were two different fingerprints on it. Cullen’s and the assistants.” “Thank you, Abs.” She smiled as he gave her a kiss on the cheek and asked: “Have we solved the case?” Gibbs was too far away to answer so Mcgee did: “No, Nearly. We need Barks real confession.”
