third person pov.

"so what are we supposed to do?" ben asked no one in particular.

"evie, you go talk to him."

"how will I know where he is?" she looked between the group.

"check the enchanted lake, he used to go there when he was upset about something." jay stepped in.

"okay.." evie nodded, walking off.

carlos' pov.

"carlos?" i felt a gentle hand on my shoulder, i knew exactly who it was, i just started crying again. evie sat down next to me and let me cry in her shoulder.

evie and i have been friends long before we met mal and jay, since we were 5 to be exact, we met when my mother left me behind somewhere and i couldn't stop crying because i was alone and scared. evie came over to me and tried to cheer me up and was being nice to me, unlike every other person on the isle who just walked past me and called me a wimp.

"it's okay, 'los, you'll see him again." she spoke softly, rubbing my arm.

"not with mal and jay around." i scoffed, wiping my face.

"we are bringing over more vks soon.. maybe he can be one of your choices?" evie said, smiling softly trying to cheer the boy up.

"one of?" i questioned.

"we are aloud to choose 2 vks!" she exclaimed, very excited to bring dizzy and more vks to auradon.

i heard the gravel rustle from behind us, i knew it was mal, so i decided to mess with her, "i'll choose uma too" i said smirking making evie laugh.

"only if she's around when we choose" she replied.

i looked at her and just smiled, "thank you.."

"for what?" she looked at me.

"understanding me." i said quietly.

"it's what friends are for.." she smiled and hugged me.

mal's pov.

we followed evie.

well. technically i followed evie, because jay didn't want to get spotted and for carlos to hate him even more, and also because lonnie needed to talk to him.

anyways.

i followed her down to the enchanted lake and hid behind a rock at the top.

i couldn't hear much but i could see their lips moving, i was trying to remember a spell for good hearing but, i couldn't. i tried to move down closer without making to much noise but its hard when you're walking on gravel. i watched carlos's head turn at the sound of the gravel, that's when he said something loud enough for me to hear.

"i'll choose uma too" carlos said smirking. he knew i was here. i sighed.

i was hiding behind another rock but i looked down for a second, but when i looked back up, they were gone.

"spying on us?" i heard from behind me making me jump.

"jeez, don't do that- also, you're not bringing harry or uma here."

that was when carlos' face dropped.

"what so you're gonna give every vk a chance here except them?" he questioned making me nod and smile.

"what the fuck.. you wanna make my life more miserable or what?" he grumbled, walking away.

"carlos..." evie said softly before she turned to me, "mal, this has to stop." evie said looking at me.

"what?"

"if you keep doing this your just going to destroy him..." evie said looking at me hurt.

"he will get over it, harry is not a good guy, he bullied him on the Isle when we were kids.." i pleaded.

"well he's obviously changed, mal." evie said before walking away.

"c'mon, not you too.." i stood there and watched as my family slowly got torn apart.
