A/n Jarlet moment up ahead.
"Can you teach me?" He asked.
"Teach you what?" She replied, her eyes not quite meeting his.
"Wandless magic." He confirmed, "I want to learn."
"I'm not sure if I can." Scarlet sighed. Dark eyes met bright and James looked at her pleadingly.
"Please Scar, can't you try?" He begged, since he had seen her do wandless magic he had become fascinated by it. But that had him wondering if he could do it. Could he be strong enough to use magic without a wand? Something even his father can't do.
Scarlet, unfortunately for her, made the mistake of suggesting that he could given that his blood was almost entirely pure. Now he couldn't stop thinking about the idea of doing wandless magic and he hoped she would be willing to teach him.
"Fine." She caved, her eyes shimmering with mirth and amusement.
"Really?" He grinned back at her. She nodded her head and returned the grin.
"Go fetch a bunch of candles and meet me in our room." She instructed. He nodded dutifully and went off to find every candle he could get his hands on.
Honestly, you're acting like a child, he chided himself but he was far too excited about this to care.
After a few minutes of searching he had gathered about a dozen candles, he was about to grab the one on the centre of the dinning table when,
"What are you doing?" Albus asked making his presence known.
"Getting candles for Scarlet." He replied not looking at his brother, he really didn't want to see the smug grin on his face. He didn't need to look at him to know he was smirking, he could just sense it.
"Where is Scarlet?" Al asked again.
"In our room."
"And why are you bringing candles to my sister in her room?" Scorpius asked announcing his presence, James turned to look at him only to see him raising a eyebrow, the perfect imitation of his father from a couple weeks before.
"I swear it's not what it sounds like." He promised.
"Okay but what are you and Scarlet doing with thirteen candles?" Rose asked. Where the hell did she come from?
"In your room, alone." Lily stated. Ok where were they all coming from? James was pretty sure no one was around when he was snagging candles.
"I mean, I don't think we really want to know..." his cousin Fred said smirking in the doorway. Fred, Roxanne, Uncle George, Aunt Angela, Uncle Percy, Aunt Penelope, Molly and Lucy had arrived a few days ago, it was now Christmas Eve and the only people missing were his Uncle Bill, Aunt Fleur, Victoire, Dominique, Louis and Teddy. They were supposed to be arriving later that day but James didn't allow himself to feel excited about that as yet, he was focused on Scarlet and the fact that she was going to help him learn wandless magic and-
"Hello? Anybody in there?" Al waved his hand pass James' face a couple of times, "Hugo asked if you wanted to join us for a game of Quidditch." Al smirked up at him.
"You alright mate? You seemed to have dazed away there." Fred smirked at him.
"I'm fine, sorry guys can't play, I gotta get the candles to Scarlet." He reapplied flashing everyone an apologetic look.
"What're you two planning?" Rose asked suspiciously.
"Nothing Rosie, she's just helping me with something, you guys head out and have fun, maybe I'll join later?" He asked. Everyone seemed to accept this and they all filed outside to play. He felt guilty for lying and a bit selfish for not telling them what he was gonna do but he didn't want to tell them for them to get their hopes up only to be disappointed if he couldn't do it. He'll make it up to them somehow but for now he headed to his room, levitating the candles.
