Miriam POV:
17th century:

"Lady Miriam your bags have been packed, should I call Joseph to carry them to the carriage for you." The maid announced as she backed away toward the door not waiting for a response. Why would she wait; after all, she was following someone else's orders. I couldn't blame her I was no longer in the position to order her. I placed the quill down on the table and closed the bottle of ink. I got up from the chair and turned to face her. All I did was smile as she left from my chamber. It will be a while before Joseph comes to collect my bags. I walked over to the window and looked out at the gardens one last time. Those garden where I planted those flowers they have abandoned me too. I draw the window curtains and move toward my bed. I sweep my hand across the furniture and smile looking around the room one last time. I was no longer bound to him. He let go of my hand when I needed him the most. I held back the tears and remembered my good days with David.

__________ flashback______________

I was sitting on the bed knitting a pair of sock. I was happy because soon I will be a mother. As I sat, knitting one of the socks, David walked up behind me and embraced me. I dropped the half-knitted sock and turned my head to look at him. He let his hand slide over my exposed back and he planted a kiss on my neck and worked his way up to my lips. He gripped on to my hair clip and let my hair loose, falling just below my waist. I quickly pushed him back just to tease him and to see if he pulled me back towards him.

"Oh come on why is the mother of my soon to be child blushing away like a newly wedded bride." he got up and pulled me closer, and let his hands fall around my waist. He made me face him and gaze into his eyes, my forehead was just an inch away from his lips. David bent down to lightly plant a kiss on my forehead.

"Oh, the baby says that Mother is angry because you are leaving mother alone for a month just to go on some useless gathering at a friend's mansion." I playfully teased as I turned my back towards him. He removed my hair to the side and let his hands slide against my bare arms, folding my arms on my stomach and allowed his head rest on my shoulder. He slowly removed my hair from my neck and sniffed in pleasure.

"I wouldn't take long, I would be back from England as soon as the parliament decides something about the new orders for Plymouth colony

"I wouldn't take long, I would be back from England as soon as the parliament decides something about the new orders for Plymouth colony. In the meantime you wait at home and take care of our young Augustine," he let go of me and picked me up in his arms. He carried me to the bed and placed me gently on top. He took my hand and kissed it lightly. "Just a month, I will be back soon."

"David, why are you worrying about what happens on the other side of the ocean," David places a finger on my lip for me to be quiet. I quiet down and just stare at his eyes.

"Miriam, you really don't understand politics; politics isn't for women after all." David gently stroked my cheeks. "I need to make a name for myself love. The more I engage with the men in the government the more power I will have." David got up from the bed and pulled the bags left near the door and headed out. He turned back one last time before leaving and added, "If you want I can still stay." I shook my head in a response of a no, even though I wanted him to stay. I would have stopped him if I only knew he wouldn't return to me the same.
