Nathanial POV:
17th Century

Her grasp on his body came so suddenly that even Nathanial couldn't help, but hold her in his arms. Her eyes were drenched with tears; her cries were only muffled whispers. Miriam looked at Nathanial's face to say something, however, she fell silently resting her head on his chest. The right thing for him would have been to push her away, but there Nathanial stood holding her as if time stood as a testament for another mistake he was ready to commit.

"What happened?" Nathanial slowly backed away from Miriam as he asked.

"David wouldn't...would he?" Miriam whispered in between her cries. Nathanial only knew David was the name of the man she was married to. Nathanial has kept his distance from her, but over the course of time, he had been gathering information on Miriam. She has been an orphan since the age of five and lived with her aunt and uncle till she married a young Politician name, David Augustine. David had just passed away three months ago and then Miriam's life became a nightmare for her.

"David, wouldn't what?" Nathanial questioned, Miriam suddenly backed away as if in pain She held her hands against her head. Nathanial moved in closer trying to see if she was okay. Her aura was becoming weak.

"Dales...he said David was...unfaithful." Miriam fell unconscious in Nathanial's arm. Her breath seemed like the only sign that she was alive.

"Miriam." Nathanial's tapped her cheeks to wake her up. "Miriam." She remained stiff in his arms. Nathanial picked Miriam up gently in his arms and began walking to the mansion. He knew she wasn't his Myra, but only a girl with the same face. However, Nathanial couldn't leave her near the woods alone. Dales,...what could he have said that it would upset Miriam so badly. Nathanial hadn't sensed anything dangerous in Dales except for his rude attitude. He seemed normal as most humans.

Nathanial carried Miriam to her room and placed her on her bed gently. He was about to leave the room when he noticed her room window was open and a draft was coming through. Nathanial quickly walked over to the windows and closed them shut. However, for a second he felt as if a dark presence was nearby. It couldn't have been his mistake, a dark presence was definitely nearby. Nathanial walked over to Miriam's cupboard and found a few candles. He lit those candles and placed them around her room. Nathanial made a quick prayer to cast a protection spell.

For centuries fire lit the houses of people. It was a light source in the dark. Fire can burn one, but for others, it gives them warmth and light. Candles and lamps are lit in churches and places of worship. Fire is sacred, one day it will burn away all the evil in creation. Nathanial's eyes began to glow bright blue and light fused out of his body. Most humans think candles are used to call out evil or to cast evil magic. They forgot that the candle is burned to shine a light in the darkness. But if a heart is dark it will only think evil. Nathanial's magic reflected his own heart, it was for the protection of Miriam. If an evil presence was nearby they can't enter for the next twenty-four hours in her room.

After casting his spell, Nathanial was ready to leave Miriam, but her hair on her face caught his attention. Nathanial removed the hair from her face. As he touched her, Miriam rose up from her bed. She opened her eyes, they were pure white as if she didn't have pupils. She gripped Nathanial's hand and began to shake her head.

"Miriam what is happening to you." Nathanial's words didn't seem to have any effect on her, she was not conscious. Her nails dug deeper into his arm as she began to whisper something.'

"They hold my memories. A memory of the day the sea brought you to me. The One who brought you into my life I don't know for what, but I pray it is not for sin." Miriam dropped her head on the pillow with no other movement. Nathanial looked at her still face unable to understand the impacts of her words. Those weren't Miriam's words, those were Myra's words.
