CHAPTER 21: A NEW DAY

A blinding light had emerged from the blast. Everyone, even the Apep's army, was shocked at what Carter had done. "Are we dead for real this time?" Frost said, holding his head. "Well, if I am dead, I sure as hell don't want to be stuck with you," Mike said, rolling his eyes. They had noticed a shining light from where Carter had been standing. When they looked up, they saw a massive shield as Carter had been standing in front of them. "You guys okay?" Carter asked, concerned. Macho ran up to him and slammed his fist into Carter's head. "YOU DUMBASS, YOU COULD HAVE DIED, MAN!" He yelled. The shield broke, and Silas and Apep looked in shock. "H-How in the world did he?" Apep said in awe. "Hmph, guess he is stronger than I expected." He laughed. He landed back on the ground. Silas followed along behind him.

Falthor started to reduce in size as his power was slowly depleting. "WAIT, WAIT, NO, NO, NO! THE RITUAL SHOULD HAVE LASTED LONGER?!" They exclaimed they were in a state of panic. Apep laughed and walked over towards them. "Oh my lord, are you going to save us from-" Falthor had been cut off. Apep shot a knife through the chest. "B-B-But my sir..." Their bodies slowly started to come undone. Silas ran over to his brother. "N-No, no-no! Brother, please no." He said. Silas was never one to show his emotions, especially crying. Carter, Macho, Sly, and Atlas walked to Silas to comfort him.

"P-Please don't leave me alone. You are the only true family I had." Silas said before completely breaking down. "Hehe, bro, you were always one to be wimpy.." Flint said, laughing before coughing in pain. "And it looks like you a good family right here.." Flint began to point behind him as the uncalled five and everyone else watched and tried to comfort him. Flint's body just wholly disappeared into the sky. Malthor, on the other hand, had been turned into an egg. Apep grabbed the egg and held it above his head. He dropped the egg into his mouth and started to eat it. "Hahaha. I have no use for you guys anymore. I will take just ki-" Apep dropped the egg and began to shake. His body started to convulse; it almost looked seizure. ''What the?" Derek said, stepping away from the body. "GRAAAA!" Apep began to grow in size, taking the form of what Falthor had been. "I am the strongest in all the realms! I will destroy the living realm and the heavenly realm! I WILL BE THE RULER!" Apep said, slamming his hand into the ground.Everyone, including Apep's army, jumped out of the way. "WHY WON'T YOU GUYS DIE!" Apep roared. Carter made another shield as Apep shot a blast down. "AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" He yelled. Atlas began to talk as a mysterious figure appeared from the shadows. "I will need your help with this, Atlas." Said the mysterious man. "Wait, who are you?" Hope inferred. "And where have you been this whole time?" Sly said, irritated. "For your information, I was here, but I was observing until this very moment." He said. "My name is Lance, and I am here to help you guys with the plan." He smiled and pushed up his glasses.

Carter kept up the shield so they could keep talking about the plan. "So the idea is to distract Apep so Carter can heal the giant and Silas can use his numen?" Macho said, confused. "The idea is to use the giant to have the advantage. If we do this correctly, then we will survive." Lance said firmly. "But what if we don't?" Flip said, shaking. "Then we die," Silas said, cracking his knuckles. Lance smiled and looked around at everyone. "Let's start operation destroy the king." He exclaimed.

Carter released the shield as everyone in uproar began to go at giant Apep. Apep started swinging his arms around to eliminate all the people surrounding him. Macho threw Sly into the air as Sly scratched Apep's eye. "GRAA! YOU IMBECILE!" Apep slapped Sly to the ground. Sly was lying there on the dirt, out of breath from the fall. "YOU ALL ARE GNATS COMPARED TO ME! I WILL DESTROY THE REALMS SO THAT THE UNDERWORLD WILL ALWAYS PREVAIL!" He yelled. Everyone was trying their best to take off the Apep, but it looked like the plan was ending. "He is way too strong!" Frost yelled. "But we need to keep this up so the plan can succeed!" Mike said.Carter ran over to the giant who had died to Falthor. He went up to the body and stood where the head was. He put his hand on the shoulder and tried to heal the giant. Hope looked over at Carter and started to enhance Carter's power to the max. "What the" Carter looked at the aura that surrounded him, looked over at Hope, and sent a wave. "Thank you!" He said, waving toward Hope. The healing process made everything easier until the giant began to absorb Carter. Carter started to panic but took a deep breath and let the process happen. Apep looked down and Carter and got furious. He sent a massive gust of wind from his body and ran toward the giant. "YOU WILL NOT BEAT ME NEVER! I WON'T LET IT HAPPEN!" Apep screamed. His voice boomed; it almost sounded like a screeching noise. "Now, Silas," Atlas said from inside the shield. Silas nodded and closed his eyes. Two bright lights emerged on the battlefield."Uhn.. so this is the mindscape, huh?" Silas said, laughing. "I need to come here more often." He said, walking around. "Hey, Silas! Over here." Said a figure in the distance. "I know that voice it is... Carter!" Silas exclaimed, running over toward him. Silas stood in front of Carter, and they looked at what was bound to happen. "So we just need to find a way for you to use the giant's body as if it were your own," Silas said, looking around. Carter nodded and pointed in the direction of the giant's brain. "I need you to go back, and if by the time I am not back in my original body after the fight, then... I am probably lost." He said to Silas nervously. "So you are telling me that you may die!" Silas said, enraged.

"Yes, but that is a risk I am willing to take to save you guys," Carter said, smiling. "When I was first here, my only objective was to leave and get back to my family, but as time progressed, we became closer. I realized that you're my second family." Carter said, tearing up. Silas and Carter stared at the giant's brain and then back at each other. It was a long moment of silence. Silas walked over to Carter and grabbed his shoulder. Silas was close to Carter's face; they practically breathed on each other. "Carter.." Silas' face slowly began to close in on Carter's. Carter was scared and started to back away. He stopped just inches before his nose. "Just don't die." He said, stepping away and giving both of them space. Carter turned around, and his face started to flush. He slapped his face and started taking bigger breaths before turning towards Silas. He sighed and ran over to Silas. "I won't die," Carter said, turning back to the brain and jumping inside. Silas laughed before waking up.

"Numen Awakening: Titan Mode," Silas said as his body started growing, and around his body, armor formed and was turned into a giant. The giant that Carter was using slowly began to stand up, slamming each foot into the ground. They both let off a huge roar and began to go at Apep. The fight was intense; the ground would crumble and break with each strike. It was a giant battle between the strongest people in this realm. Silas grabbed Apep's arm and flung him into the air. "GRAAAAAA!" Apep yelled, trying to brace himself for the next attack. Silas began to blitz him. "THIS IS FOR MY FRIENDS!" Silas roared. His voice boomed across the realm. "THIS FOR THE REALM YOU DESTROYED, AND THIS IS FOR KILLING MY BROTHER!" Silas yelled, charging up a colossal-sized blast. Above him was Carter as his body was shining, blinding Apep. "DAMNN!" Apep yelled. "Numen Ultimate Style: SHINING STAR!" Carter yelled, slamming his body into the air along with Apep. "NO, NO, NO, NO! I C-C-CANNOT LOSE!" Apep squealed. He tried pushing Carter off of him. "OH NO, YOU DON'T!" Silas said, rushing up beside Carter. "HAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" Their yells were in total sync as before Apep was overwhelmed by the energy. Carter pushed Silas away and took the explosion himself. "NOOO!" Silas held his hand out for Carter, but the explosion pushed him.

The clouds had started to go away as the sun began to rise along the battlefield.

Apep, The King of the Underworld, has been defeated.A new day is finally here.
