Night fell as Carter began to walk home from his friend's house. Carter Wilson is a 17-year-old junior in high school. He had been hanging out with his friend, Jason Jackson. They have been friends since elementary school and have been through the self-prospering middle school to the hell they call high school. Carter having to walk at least a couple of blocks home, stopped to get some snacks before going home. He went into the convenience store for a Doritos and lemonade. When heading up to the counter, he paid for his snacks and walked out the door.
Reaching his house around midnight, he saw his stepdad's car outside. Rolling his eyes, he rummaged through his pockets to grab his keys, and as he opened the door, there lay his mother crying on the floor. Carter staring in shock, watched as his stepdad released his grip walking toward him. "Hey, boy. Go back out and grab me a soda," he said, putting his hand on Carter's shoulder. Carter stood there filled with rage and the intent to beat the hell out of his stepdad.
"Fuck you"
Carter said, punching his stepdad. His stepdad stumbled backward, holding his face, irritated. "You bastard child," he said, running at him full force, tackling him down to the ground. Carter and his stepdad were rolling on the floor, yelling and cursing each other. His mother, Lydia, is standing there and crying, trying to break them up, and his twin brother, Max, is trying to process what the hell just happened.
His stepdad, Darren, was a 36-year-old, unemployed train wreck. He met Carter's mother through Love Tap, an app where couples meet and fall in love. His mother tried the app many times before, and the dates all ended up failing or going wrong except for him. Darren did something that changed my mom's perspective on online dating. Since then, they have been going out for 5 years. But since she let him into their home, their lives have been hell. The home became a mancave and led to priceless objects being broken, people injured or sick, and the house on fire.
Darren was just the worst person ever, not to even mention he beat Carter's mother up. Lydia's friends would always tell her that she could do better and that he wasn't suitable for her. They were the right cause; I bet she wished she had listened to them at this moment. As they were tumbling around on the floor, going from room to room, she had been rendered helpless to do anything. Carter slowly got up, holding his arm. His stepdad pulled out a gun and pointed it toward Carter. "Now, boy, get down and kiss my shoes," Darren said, laughing while cocking the gun. Carter and his family are in shock, unable to do anything.
Carter walked toward his stepdad, slow and steady. His stepdad laughed, "Atta boy, now act like the bitch you are." Carter began to come to his senses, running at him, trying to grab the gun. Darren, enraged, tries to pull the trigger, getting slammed to the ground. But while going down, the sound of the gun went off. Lying there was Carter, bleeding out on his side.
Darren, his stepfather, had shot him.
