The Night We Fell Apart

CHAPTER 9: LIMITLESS

The Uncalled Four and other members have made it past the first round of the Trials. Over three thousand people have entered the competition, and two thousand nine hundred eighty people have been eliminated. Meaning that only 20 people remain in the Trials. Everyone mutters about Macho and Carter as they walk in simultaneously. Silas, Sly, and Atlas all ran over to them. "WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?!" Yelled Sly. Everyone stared at Carter, confused about who this human had been. "I don't know. There was one moment when I felt weak, and another moment I didn't." Carter said, shrugging.

A tall figure appeared from among the shadows and began smiling. "Hello. I am Liev. I am an assistant to the captain over the trials you are participating in. And all of you have made it past the first round." He said, smiling. His smile sent chills down everyone's spine. Leaving them with a sense of knowing that his energy was almost limitless. "Now, you guys will be taking an energy/power test. To see where you stand of how strong you are." He said, looking at the list of people. He has begun with Atlas. Atlas had stepped up to the platform and had minimal energy as he was placed in the third category.

"Raider?" Liev said out loud. Everyone looked around as he stepped up to the platform. Raider was a tall guy with massive muscles, but he had perfect control over his numen. The ground shook when he released his energy, and he was immediately placed in the first class. More and more people went up there. "Second... First... Fourth... Third!" Liev called the people and told them their groups. It was a matter of time before Silas, Sly, Carter, and Macho were the last people to be called. "ALRIGHT, WE ARE DOWN TO THE FINAL THREE! Hahaha! It sounds like they made it to the finals, but you guys aren't even close."

Liev said, laughing maniacally. He cleared his throat and called for Sly. Sly went up to the platform and stood there as the counter fluctuated. The counter began to spark as Sly stepped off and entered the second line. "Wow, that was amazing," Carter said in awe. Carter said what everyone was thinking. Macho ran up to the platform, grinning from ear to ear. He stepped on the counter as it beeped repeatedly. Then he was also placed in the second category as a team captain. "See ya in the next round if you make it." He directed that towards Carter. Carter smiled and watched him go into his line.

Before Silas had gone up to the platform, he told Carter something. "Make sure you learn to control that power of yours. If not, it will be engulfed and go crazy in the head or..." Silas said as he got called to the platform. "Or what.." Carter said nervously. "I wonder how my family is doing." He said, turning to Silas on the forum. As soon as he stepped onto the counter, Everyone was shocked as Liev instructed him to the First team leader. Liev took a few minutes to fix the counter so it would be brand new. "Because of technical difficulties, I have made a new and improved counter. Alright, so, next up is... Carter." Everyone stared at him as he walked up to the platform. Scattered muttering could be heard as he was walking toward the podium.

Carter stepped on the platform and began to tremble. The counter slowly dinged as his power was low and was lowest out of all of them. Everyone except the Uncalled Five and Liev laughed. They had seen the numbers that weren't listed but kept a secret. Liev put Carter in the fourth group. "The teams have been set. Step inside and begin your trial. Good luck to you guys." Liev said, smiling still. "You are going to need it." He said, mumbling under his breath, laughing.

Team 1 - Silas, Raider, Shawn, Lance, and Frost.Team 2 - Macho, Grady, Butch, Key, and Sly.Team 3 - Atlas, Red, Austin, Dean, and Wind.Team 4 - Flip, Derek, Mike, Hope, and Carter.The actual trials begin now.
