Everything went in and out for Carter after his father shot him. "Y-You shot him. MY BABY," said Lydia emotionally. She shifted from bawling her eyes to rage pinpointed toward Darren. "YOU SON OF A BITCH, I WILL KILL YOU RIGHT NOW, she yelled, running at him with a knife. Max had been on the phone trying to comfort his brother, lying there on the verge of death.
So, he could not stop his mother, who was filled with rage. With each breath, drawing to his end. The police and ambulance had pulled up just in the nick of time. One of the officers grabbed her from behind, holding her with a firm grasp. The other two officers seized Darren and slammed him to the ground. Max was sitting there in shock with the mother screaming and crying, perplexed about what had just happened. And Carter is lying on a gurney in an ambulance truck, clinging to every ounce of his life.
After a couple of hours, the truck and officers who had driven Carter's mother and brother to the hospital. The doctors quickly rushed Carter to the back to get him into surgery. Lydia and Max sat there for hours, waiting for an answer. One of the doctors returned from the surgery area with a relaxed expression.
"Well, how is he, doc,'' said his mother, concerned. "He is fine." Both Lydia and Max let out a sigh of relief. "But even though he is in stable condition. He is in a coma, and it doesn't look like he is waking up anytime soon," the doctor said, looking down. Lydia started in a daze, slowly falling back into her chair and passing out.
After an hour, Max and Lydia followed the nurse to the room where Carter had been placed. "Here we are. Hope everything is okay," the nurse walked out and slowly shut the door. He was lying in bed, idle to the world around him. Lydia plopped down in a chair beside him as his brother grabbed the remote from the table and turned it on.
"That bastard is going to pay for hurting my baby," Lydia enraged. ''Mom, you should relax. Do not let this affect your well-being. You are a great mom and woman; Darren just could not see it," said Max hugging his mom. The doctor had called Max to talk to him in private outside the room."He is in a stable condition, but he is in a coma, and we do not know when he will wake up for sure," said the doctor sadly. "Yes, sir," He said. Walking back inside to sit down in the chair. His mother looked at him, concerned. "Hey, are you okay, Maxie," She said, looking at him.Her mother's intuition kicked in as she knew something was wrong with her child. "I-Its nothing.
They said that he would be fine. He just needs a bit of rest, that is all." He said with a stern voice. "Oh, that is great! He is going to be okay," She said with glee.
Max had lied to make his mother feel better. They stayed with him for a week or two. After a while, they did daily pop-ins to see how he was doing. Months later, they had just stopped coming.
