Chapter 32

I caught my breath as I awoke from the strange nightmare. A nightmare that when I woke up I could not even remember. All I can recall are wings and eyes. Something that is not frightening at all but terrifies me. However, when I tried to turn to Saint, who was just next to me before I went to slumber, he was no longer there.

I took a deep breath and looked around. That's when I realized he was really gone.

I just bit my lip and slightly pressed both of my knees together. I tried to expunge the dream from my mind, but it really won't go away. Until now, I am still terrified. Nonetheless, I strive to calm myself down and remind myself that it was just a dream.

Just a bad dream.

"So, you are the guardian of the soul, they say?" I quickly turned to the speaker. There, I saw a little girl wearing her white robe with her hands clasped behind her back. She was still slightly jumping, as if wandering around in the room where I was staying. If you look at her carefully, there is nothing strange about the child. Regardless, everything became strange because I could see her even if she was a soul.

I took a deep breath when the little girl got closer to me. She leaned on the bed and smiled.

"I know what you did." She said softly. That made the redness on my face worse.

I winced before uttering, "What do you need?" However, instead of answering my question, she asked me a question.

"You're a guardian of the soul, and he's a grim reaper. Doesn't that seem wrong? " What she said seemed like a slap in the face to me. Something that appears to have been done by God to wake me up in a dream about Saint "Father God will be angry, guardian of the soul." I lost something to say at that point. It seemed impossible to open my lips to the fact that the child was right. Everything we did was wrong.

I couldn't help but bite my lip.

"This bed is so soft!" The child screamed happily. She stood up and jumped, something that caused the bed to move.

"W-What's your name?"

"Alyssa!"

"How did you get in here?"

"I went with you the other day." Astonished, I turned to her. "After the Grim Reaper took Madam Matilda, who locked me up, I went with you. I just didn't show up right away because I was afraid the Grim Reaper might take me too. " Alyssa explains. "I still don't want to go to heaven. Mom still needs me, "she added. The reason why all my interests were aroused I took another deep breath before holding the child's hand to stop her from jumping so I could talk to her. The girl in front of me was beautiful. Her hair was curly, and her cheeks and lips were red. Unlike other lost souls, the child was still clear in my sight. I estimated her age, and I think she's only six or seven years old. That causes me to smile dearly.

I was about to ask her a question when she stopped me with her little left hand covering my mouth.

"Guardian of Soul, once you ask me questions about where I came from, you can do nothing but help me. That is what Madam Matilda said. " My lips parted at what Alyssa said. "Madam Matilda plans to possess you to return to the world of humans. It is good that you are with one of the grim reapers. " It explains things I never thought of before. "Do not trust too much; the world of the afterlife is more cunning than the world of humans. Many souls like me want to return to the world. I do not want that to happen."

Even though she clearly stated it, I don't seem to understand what she is saying now.

I am confused. What is the real purpose of being the guardian of the soul?

Wendy is now a teenager who lives in the city and is loved by many. She already has everything, intelligence, wealth, family, and popularity. But despite all that, Wendy prefers to sleep to dream of the things she dreams of.
