Death Contract

They say that reincarnation may be true because no one in the world can tell what there is in the afterlife. Nor can anyone prove that fictional things are not true. So I believe that in this world we have things we don't know, but it's better that we just don't know.

"I'll borrow this book," I uttered while reaching for the book to show the librarian. The book is entitled "Death Contract." When I read the book's description earlier, the book already caught my attention. So I took it.

"You're just reading novels again. How old are you? What course are you on? You should be studying! " I couldn't help but wince when the librarian reprimanded me. Yet I laughed and scratched my head before I answered.

"Ma'am Rita, my course is journalism. Let me go, my brain is sharpened when I read. " I explain to her. Something that made the librarian shake her head and laugh at the time. Well who wouldn't a grown up woman like me reading something like this as if still fantasising the life that people now a days have been working hard to live.

"You're not getting younger anymore. You're twenty years old, but you're still concentrating on novels like this." I just let the old woman comment and preferred to pick up the book, then waved at her before leaving. But even before I got out of the library, she called me again. "Hija, what's your name again? I have to list it here! " she shouted that the reason why students inside the library turn their heads over me. I was a quite get overwhelm with the attention and I couldn't help but to feel my cheeks burn for some reason.

"Gail, Abigail Sean Perelman, " as I told her that I couldn't help but to scratched my head. This is somewhat embarassing. After that with a smile I left the school library with the book. I even hugged it because I was excited to start reading the story. The plot was somewhat my flavour for the day. Curiousity is eating me a live as I travel the hallway with my bag on my back.

However, even before I could left school, I was suddenly startled by a man.

"Boo!"

"My God! Darren Wesley! " I shouted. That really startled me, what is he doing? "Do you plan to kill me?" I couldn't help but hold my chest because of him, but the idiot was there just laughing.

"That's epic!" He even tactlessly said that, as if my face a while ago defined my dignity as a woman. This dimwit! "You really should be surprised every day, Gail. You look like a carnival, so — ouch! " He hadn't finished what he was going to say when someone suddenly hit him. Good on him.

I smirked.

"What the hell is this, Darren? Stop teasing my cousin! " That is when Darren meets the scolding eyebrow of Hannah, my cousin who is also my best friend. We are both on the same course, while Darren is taking political science, and the three of us are friends at this university. Yet we always in the state where all of us tease, argue but in the end laugh with each other. That' how we are since our elementary days.

"Hannah, Darren is bullying me again!" I pretend to complain. Pouting my lips like a child complaining to her mother.

"Why are you bullying our little Gail?" Hannah yelled at Darren again. I want to laugh at the miserable look on Darren’s face now. But when he spoke, I winced.

"Babe, I'm your boyfriend."

And yes, I am their great third wheel. That's when I frowned and chose to leave them there. I walked away from the two and went to the parking lot where my bike was waiting for me as my car on my way home. Our house is close to the university. It wasn't like Hannah's house, which was too big, but it was just right for us.

Today I have to go home because my mom is pregnant and no one will take care of her. My dad is at work. My life is simple, yet happy because it is complete.

While biking, the book I was carrying unexpectedly fell off. It was terrific to think that it fell even though it was in the basket of my bike. So I quickly braked to return the book that had fallen.

Gosh, this is so annoying!

Towing the bike, I returned the book, but someone had already picked it up. When I looked up, I saw a man wearing a uniform at the other university. Obviously, the man was not from Laurel Town because he seemed to live in Plamour. In hindsight, he looks older than me, but that doesn't deny his elegance and whiteness. He appears to be younger than I thought.

When our eyes met there, I noticed the strange colour of his eyes. I was also suddenly nervous, and I didn’t know why his face looked so familiar to me. I can’t quite explain it no matter what I make of staring at him.

"Death Contract." He mentioned the title of the book for a moment before handing it to me. "You have a weird taste in books." That's when I winced. Why is he interfering with my likeness?

Because of that, I took my book from him.

Yeah, fine! He's handsome, but that's all he's got.

I had no intention of talking to him and was about to get on my bike when he spoke again.

"What's your name?" I was stunned by his question. However, I still answered him as I continued riding the bike.

"Gail, Abigail." When I put the book in the bag, I turned to the man and smiled. "You, what is your name?" There he smiled back. A smile made my heart beat even harder.

"Saint, Saint Archangel."
