* THE NEXT DAY *

"Man... I gotta pay rent.... again..." she whines, Mirajane giggling at her complaint. "Then we gotta go on a job, Wendy and Carla are already picking one" he points towards the bulleting board.

"By the way Erza... It's already the 9th slice of cake. No offense but aren't you gonna get fat at this rate?" she stares at her cake loving friend. "Believe me, she doesn't. I get amazed every time" he shrugs.

"Lucky.." she sobs, Mirajane chuckling as she gives Lucy her drink. "Thank you Mira" she smiles, Mirajane doing likewise. The guild doors opened and there stood Natsu and Happy.

Looking around, Lucy noticed the atmosphere getting dark. "Lushhee!!!" Happy flies towards his blonde friend as she catches him in her arms.

"Oh Natsu, you're early today!!" Makarov smiles, appearing right before them. "Good morning master!!" they greet. "Morning gramps" he bows his head, Makarov crying as if his newborn son finally spoke his first words.

"My son..." he cried. "Gramps?" he tilts his head. The others were also surprised at the scene of him finally talking back. "You're early salamander" Gajeel joins the chat. "Boo, I wanted to be early before him" Levy pouts.

"Too bad my buddy's just too good at waking up early" Gajeel scoffs, Levy pouting at his tease. "Now now, you two" Juvia sighs. "They've been like this ever since we got here" Lily chuckles at the rare sight of his master teasing a girl.

"Going somewhere gramps?" Gray asks, Makarov nodding. "Another boring meeting you see, well... I can't help it, if only I can dismiss the meeting after a second" he sighs in disappointment.

"Well you youngsters have fun... While I... sadly listen to some annoying and boring ramblings. Have fun for me... my children...." he sobbed his way out the guild.

"Uhm... I'm sorry master?" Lucy sweatdrops, guilty at the shadow of their master crying his way out of their sight.

"Well that was a scene, by the way good morning Natsu!" Lucy brightly greets. "Mhm. Morning Luce" he greets back, the guild members amazed at how she easily made him respond.

"Everyone! Will this mission do??" Wendy and her cat friend runs back to their team. "Err.... Get a mission with a higher price" Lucy suggests.

"You just want money don't you" Gray sighs. "Blame my rent pay!!" she whines. "Will this do?" Natsu gives the flyer Happy just came back with. "Perfect! Natsu you're the best!!" she laughs, standing up as she slams the flyer on the table.

"Everyone, to the mission we go!!!" she says in determination. "Mhn" Natsu nods as he smiles, looking at her with gentle eyes. "Erza come onnn!!!" Lucy struggles, Erza sighing as she says goodbye to her plate which she was about to fill with another slice of strawberry cake.

"Was it just me or??" Gray states in astonishment. "I saw it too... Natsu-san just smiled didn't he??" Wendy grins, Carla and him nodding in answer.

It definitely... Wasn't an illusion. Period.
