 Chapter 1 - The Week Before:

****

Hermione tossed in bed as she dreamt. She felt fingers gliding across her body which caused her to sigh. Her body was intertwined with someone else's as her fingers ran through their hair, which was light and soft. "I love you, Granger." The boy's voice whispered in her ear, sending goosebumps throughout her body and a shiver down her spine. A pair of lips placed themselves on Hermione's planting a delicate yet passionate kiss upon them. It was a kiss that Hermione never wanted to end. Warmth surrounded her in a way that it never had before. She felt safe in this person's arms as their aroma of leatherbound books, and a tailor's shop intoxicated her. "Hermione..." The boy whispered in her ear again. She had never wanted someone to say her name more. "Yes?" She replied as she looked up to be met by a pair of bright blue eyes. "I'm sorry." He said. "I'm sorry for everything."

Hermione shot up in bed to hear her name being called. "Hermione!" It was her mother shouting up the stairs. "Breakfast is ready!" Hermione lay back on her pillow and looked up at her ceiling, sighing. She knew that she should get out of bed and enjoy the last week of her time at home before she returned to Hogwarts for a new school year, but she did not want to leave the comfort of her bed. She was desperate to fall back asleep and finish off her dream; she had so many questions. Who was the boy? Why was he sorry? There was something familiar about that boy she had been within her dream, but she couldn't put her finger on what it was. She had never seen his face, just seen his eyes and even they were enough to make her weak at the knees. She tried to shake it off, for it was a fantasy and climbed out of bed. Still, in her pyjamas, she took herself down to the kitchen where her mother had laid a buffet out on the table.

"Morning," Hermione said, as she greeted her mother and father with a kiss.

"Morning." They both replied before Hermione took a seat opposite her mother. "Did you sleep well?" Her mother asked, taking a bite of her toast as she did.

"I did, thank you." Hermione smiled as she reached across the table for the jug of juice and poured herself a glass, finding herself suddenly thirsty. At the other end of the table, her father was going through the mail, tutting every time he held a bill in his hand. "Oh." He smiled, waving an envelope in the air. "This one is for you, Hermione." He smiled passing it over. Hermione took it and examined the writing on the front. The scribble that she could just about make out showed that it was from Ron. Eagerly, she opened it, desperate to have some form of communication from him, after a summer of silence, due to him being on a family holiday. "Of course, I forgot to mention, an owl dropped it off this morning." Her mother smiled, still completely fascinated by the fact that Owls deliver the post.

As she read his letter, a smile crept across her face;

Dear Hermione,

I hope you're well and have a good summer. I'm sorry that I've not had the chance to write to you like I normally would but I'm sure you understand. Our family holiday was good, not nothing compares to spending the summer with you and Harry. It's such a shame that neither of you could join us this year. I have just replied to Harry's letter, so I expect you'll be receiving one too. He's fine but ready to go back to school and escape that terrible family. He's still grieving Sirius, which is understandable.
