"I'm going to do it, Harry." Ron insisted, turning to his best friend. "I'm going to ask her to the Yule Ball." He heard Harry scoff next to him. 

"Yeah, alright." Harry laughed. "Taking a bit of his toast." Sure you are." Ron turned around at hit him with his textbook, causing Harry to wince. Hermione on the other hand, shook her head, disappointed that after four years, Ron had still not figured out what a textbook was for. 

"I am," He insisted. "I'm going to ask her to be my date."

"And if she rejects you?" Harry replied, raising an eyebrow. "What will you do then?" Ron looked at the table and sighed before he scratched his head. "Probably have a breakdown in our dorm room." He whispered quietly. 

"No offence mate, but you've been saying that you're going to ask her for the past week." Harry injected, and Hermione nodded in agreement. "Ron, if you don't ask her, someone else will. Then you will be heartbroken." Hermione stated, before turning her attention back to her Defence Against the Dark Arts notes, as Professor Moody was testing the class this afternoon and she did not want to fall behind. As Ron went to reply, (Y/n) approached the table, carrying a box. "Ron?" He looked up to see her standing next to him. "Ginny asked me to give you this. I think it's your suit for the Yule Ball." Ron smiled, grabbing the box away from her and opening it up. He was horrified at what he saw inside it. "This isn't for me." He stated. "No way."

"Ron, you idiot!" He heard his brother Fred say. "They're your dress robes!" Everyone began laughing. "God, I pity the girl you ask to the Yule Ball." (Y/n) laughed. "No one will go with you if you wear that." Hermione and Harry watched as Ron's eyes sunk. "Anyway, I'd better get going." She said, still laughing. "I'll see you in Potions, Hermione." Ron watched as (Y/n) walked away. 

"But I was going to ask you," He said, quietly, feeling like he'd just been stabbed through the chest.
