Who Invented High School?

Dear Journal,
Today was my first day of year 11 at a new school in a new city. It was actually a pretty cool day at school. I met a whole bunch of people and they were really cool. Like Yoonji, Minji, Chaeah, and Jungkook. Theatre class was amazing! Yoonji is such a good actor and I can really tell how passionate she is about it. So is Chaeah! I thought Chaeah was very quiet, but in theatre class she was so much more louder and outgoing in class. She's also really good. So are Minji and Jungkook but honestly? Their singing voices are amazing! They sing so beautifully, especially together. I also met a guy named Tae today. Tae is kind of cute, I'm not going to lie, but he has a boyfriend named Skye so I'm not gonna mess with that. His friends Jin, Yoongi, and Solbi are pretty cool. Jin and Yoongi are pretty hilarious and Solbi...she's so pretty and really really nice. Oh I almost forgot about Jisoo and Jackson. Jisoo is awesome! She told me in Math class today that she plays the guitar and she used to be in a garage band but they disbanded. I didn't talk to Jackson that much today but he's pretty cool too! Hoseok...um he actually came up to me after class and asked if I was single. I'm definitely not interested mainly because he's Jisoo's ex boyfriend and I don't want to do that to her to be honest. This school has so much stuff that you can do and I'm happy about that because that means I can always take my mind off of Mama. It's not that there's nothing wrong with her...it just hurts seeing her the way she is and I'm the only one that has to take care of her. I love her more than anything and I always will.

Jimin placed his journal under his bed when he heard the soft calls of his grandmother in the room next to him. "Coming!"

"Jiminie!" Mama called. "Jiminie...how was school today?"

"Mama...don't sit up," Jimin ran over to his grandmother and laid her back down on her bed. "School was fine."

"Did you make any friends?" Mama asked and Jimin nodded. "Yeah...I did make some friends. Do you need anything Mama? Are you hungry? Do you need something to eat or drink—"

"I-It's okay Jiminie relax...I'm okay. I only just want to talk to you. It's kind of lonely here when you're not around you know? Especially since I left the flower shop back in Busan," Mama said.

Jimin gave her a small smile, "Okay...I'll talk to you. How was your day, Mama?"

"It was lovely. I watched some TV and I actually read a book today! And guess what Jiminie? I actually got up to go to the bathroom on my own today!" Mama told excitedly.

"Really?! Mama that's amazing! Please be more cautious though and please take your time. I don't want you to be rushing things okay?" Jimin said and Mama smiled. "Oh Jiminie...always such a sweet boy. I have a question though."

"Hm?"

"When are you gonna get a girlfriend, Jiminie?" Mama asked and then laughed when Jimin gave her a look. "What? It's just a question!"

"I know Mama but that question was so random," Jimin laughed nervously.

Mama nodded. "I know...I really want to see you with somebody, Jiminie. I know how upset you get when you're at home. I just want you to be happy."

Jimin frowned. "What do you mean? I am happy. I'm always happy when I'm with you."

"Promise me, Jiminie that you'd bring home a beautiful girlfriend before I pass..." Mama held Jimin's hand, but he snatched it away. "What? Mama what are you talking about? You're not going to die?!"

Mama looked at Jimin with a sad expression. "Jiminie...do you really think I'm going to live for a long time? Soon it will be my time to go. I don't know how much longer I can live like this."
