You frowned at yourself in the mirror of your room, trying to smooth out all the wrinkles in your outfit and resist the urge to change, again.
You wore a simple black button up with sleeves rolled up to the elbows, as well as dark brown pants and lace-up black boots that came up to the knees. The shirt was unbuttoned a few to allow your collarbone and breasts to breathe a bit, but it was still dignified. It hugged your curves nicely, to say the least.
As you were about to tear it all down and try something else, a knock at your door startled you. You froze, quietly grabbing a knife on your way to the door. You stood back as you flung it open, blade at the ready.
You were greeted by Petra, who stood with wide eyes that flickered between you and the knife. The ginger girl wore a beige sweater tucked loosely into an army green, knee length skirt with buttons down one side. Cute.
"Uh...um... did you want to head to the party w-with me?" She looked... petrified.
You quickly tossed the knife away, onto your desk. "I am so sorry. Can't be too careful these days, am I right?" you joked, earning a sympathetic smile. "Let's go."
You made your way to the cafeteria side by side. Petra was oddly quiet, so before you got there, you commented to her, "You look great, by the way."
"Th-thank you." She brightened immediately.
Already hearing the sound of hearty chatter, you pushed open the door with Petra in tow. The candle-lit room was packed, and nearly everyone had a drink in hand.
Hange strode toward you with a fanatical grin. "(Y/n)!"
"Fancy seeing you here," you wheezed as Hange enveloped you in a bone-crushing hug.
"Fancy seeing him here!" With the least amount of subtlety imaginable, Hange pointed directly to where Captain Levi sat, surrounded by soldiers who were all trying to talk to him. He wore a casual, long sleeved gray v-neck and black pants. Since the setting was more relaxed, the soldiers around him probably hoped for an honest conversation. But Levi was Levi, so their efforts were pretty much in vain. You chuckled.
"Geez, I need a drink," Petra groaned suddenly, fanning her face with a hand as she followed Hange's gaze. She hurried away to a table and brought a couple back for you and Hange, as well.
"Oh, no thank you." Hange smiled politely and held up a hand.
Petra threw back both her's and Hange's glasses without batting an eye. You sipped slowly at yours, wincing at the bitter taste. Blech.
"I'm gonna go talk to him!" Petra decided, putting on a brave face as she left you and Hange. Not long later, Eren approached with a gloomy expression.
"Mikasa won't let me anywhere near the drink table," he complained.
"Mikasa is Eren's girlfriend." Hange nudged him roughly, not knowing her own strength.
"She is not!" Eren snapped. "I like someone else anyway..."
"Oh? Is it Jean?" You exchanged a playful glance with Hange.
Eren's eyes widened as if you'd spat in his face. "That horse-face couldn't attract so much as a cow, never mind me!" Eren finally caught on to your and Hange's scheme and sighed. His voice faded as your eyes flickered back to Levi.
Petra had sat down next to him, blushing madly with a mixture of drink and nerves, but wasn't able to say much over the soldiers already vying for Levi's attention. The Captain, suddenly spotting you, didn't bother to excuse himself as he got up and made his way over, getting stopped now and then along the way, but his eyes never leaving yours.
