Chapter 23

~ 2 months later~

You sat at the base of a tree just behind the Scout's temporary headquarters in the city, a leather-bound book leaning against your knees and a pencil in one hand.

Only a few days before the expedition to retake Shiganshina. I've been going harder than ever at training. I want to be prepared, you wrote.

"Oi, brat," Levi approached and stopped in front of you, his boots almost touching yours.

"Such an endearing name," you said without pausing, hardly able to hold back a smile.

He nudged you with his foot. "What are you writing? And why are you sitting in the dirt?"

You tucked your pencil into the book and closed it. "Someone needs to keep a record. When we take back Maria, we'll look back on this." You held up the book. Ilse's father had made it specially for you, given as a gift. "You'll be glad of it one day."

Levi raised one brow as he looked down at you. "Tch. Don't talk as if you're going anywhere. Now get up."

"I'm not going anywhere." Your eyes glinted mischievously. "And neither are you!" You suddenly reached up and grabbed his wrist, catching him off guard as you pulled him down beside you.

Levi's steel-blue eyes were wide as he landed with his hands on either side of you, propping him up. Before he could get mad, you leaned up the rest of the way and kissed him. He kissed you back hungrily, shifting so he could bring a hand up to cup your cheek.

He eventually pulled away and stood up, picking up your notebook and offering you a hand. You took it and he led you back inside, through the halls and to his office. You went in first while Levi closed the door and hung up his coat.

You raised an eyebrow as you noticed the ungodly stack of paperwork on his desk. "Is that all still from the Orvud operation?"

Levi placed your notebook on the desk as he came up and hugged you from behind, resting his chin in the crook of your neck. His breath softly fanned your skin, sending shivers through you.

"Some. It's mostly in preparation for Shiganshina now," he murmured, starting to plant kisses on your neck.

Smiling happily, you tilted your head to give him better access, placing your hands over his. You gasped as you felt him gently nip at your skin. "Hey!"

"That's for the dirty trick you pulled earlier." He whirled you around, pushing aside the papers before picking you up and setting you on the edge of the desk.

You smirked, pulling him closer to whisper, "I'll show you dirty." You hooked your legs on his hips, grinding yourself on him as you felt him hard against you. You lightly bit at his ear while your hands were in his soft black hair.

Levi groaned faintly in response. He quickly began taking off your clothes until you were naked from the waist down, as well as unbuttoning your shirt. He undid his pants and took them off, pushing you down so your back was laying on the desk. He then started to teasingly rub himself against you, his lidded eyes watching your expression with satisfaction. "You like that?"
