So, um, after Jin's birthday ball Taehyung immediately started taking voice lessons.

He was getting pretty desperate to catch Yoongi's attention. But thanks to Jin, he had an idea.

Yoongi's 18th birthday was coming up soon, and he wanted to prepare a nice song to sing as his gift to Yoongi.

Sure, he could get Yoongi flowers or chocolates. But he's done that before and watched as Yoongi threw away the flowers because he 'didn't have a green thumb anyway,' and watched as Yoongi gave his chocolates to Jungkook because 'he's younger and should be spoiled, and besides he likes sweets more anyway.'

Getting Yoongi physical things just didn't work. They never seemed to impress him.

Of course Yoongi isn't a dick and would always thank Taehyung with an appreciative smile, but Taehyung would rather get something that Yoongi would actually like.

Yoongi had plenty of books in the Busan library. Yoongi didn't keep up with plants of any kind. Yoongi didn't have too much of a sweet tooth. Yoongi listened a lot more than he talked so Taehyung wasn't sure what else he could possibly want. And their age gap made it highly inappropriate for sex to be an option at this age.

Taehyung thought of getting Yoongi a pet, but figured he should probably find out if that was even something he was interested in first. But he already knew from Jin that Yoongi loved music.

This had to be a guaranteed top notch gift that would surely get Yoongi to give Taehyung some attention.

And thankfully, Taehyung seemed to be naturally talented at singing.

The problem: He was right at that age in puberty that his voice was constantly cracking and changing and was never stable.

This gift was going to be a risky one, but Taehyung hoped it would be worth it.

It's the thought that counts... right?

No, this had to be perfect.

Now the question was, should he sing a song that's popular or should he write his own? He knows nothing about writing music of course, but he thought it would be more genuine and impressive that way.

The next time they had gone to Seoul so the royal teens could all hang out, Taehyung pulled Jin aside and asked him what he thought he should do.

"Don't do something popular," Jin had advised him. "Either find something obscure and unheard of, or write something yourself. Yoongi isn't the type to fall for some mainstream love song."

Even though a mainstream love song would have been easier, Taehyung knew Jin was right. If he wanted to catch Yoongi's attention, he needed his performance to be more unique.

A lot of the popular love songs were about 'doing it' anyway, so Taehyung wasn't too disappointed. To him, those didn't exactly scream, 'I admire you and I'd like to cherish you for the rest of our lives.'

Like who wants to be told 'sex with you is superior, my lady,' when they are a male turning 18 and are still (hopefully) a virgin.

Doesn't sound very romantic to Taehyung and he doubts Yoongi would appreciate it either.
