"Next time you do something stupid like that again you better remember this!" He yelled and uncapped the bottle, getting ready to throw it at me.
I was quick to get out of my seat, Max quickly following. However, Caden threw the bottle and I moved to the side, wincing when I heard gasps from beside me. Oh fuck. Sara sat there, eyes wide and lemonade in her hair and shirt. Caden's eyes widened as well, knowing he screwed up. I didn't know what to expect next but I did feel a bit scared cause this was Sara and she can have her crazy moments. Sara screamed and grabbed a random kid's chocolate milk, throwing it at Caden and getting him right in the chest, the liquid soaking his shirt.
"Food fight!" A kid yelled and soon food and drinks were flying everywhere.
Kids who didn't want anything to do with it tried to rush out without getting hit but some weren't lucky. Others tried hiding under the tables but they still got hit. Sara was throwing food and drinks at Caden, still upset that he got her in the first place. Max and I were trying to take cover and Charlie screamed when someone's mac and cheese landed in her hair. She grabbed some food and threw it at the kid who got her.
"Enough! Everyone put the food down!" Staff yelled, trying to stop the students.
I felt someone tug my arm and thought it was Max but when I turned, Victor was there telling me to hurry. I followed him as he snuck us out of the place and we ran to the field where most of the students went. Many of us had food and liquid stains on our clothes and hair. Victor had a few spots of food stains on his clothes while I had liquid and food stains. While many of the students around were pissed, Victor looked at me and gave a big loud laugh. I couldn't believe it and I felt a bit embarrassed when some kids turned and glared at us. I guess they thought it wasn't funny. Soon, the remaining kids from the cafeteria were dragged into the field as well, Caden being escorted personally by a staff member. Sara and Charlie looked like a complete mess while Max only had a few stains. Everyone was now on the field and our principal grabbed a megaphone to speak into.
"I am highly disappointed and expect those who started it to step forward. We have one of the students but we know more were involved. So step forward now!"
Students turned and looked at each other, no one daring to step foward. The only student that did was the guy that yelled food fight but I bet he thought he was cool for stepping forward. The principal scanned the crowd and I shrunk back, accidentally bumping into Victor who smirked down at me.
"Alright, let me rephrase this. Those who threw food or anything else, step forward. Believe me, the punishment will be more than what it should be if I find out you were involved."
Now from this I was innocent of. I actually didn't throw anything and neither did Max. I wasn't sure if Victor was innocent but I knew that if he was he certainly wouldn't turn himself in. I was surprised to see Sara and Charlie step forward, though it was quite obvious on who was more involved. If you were out in the open and participating then you most likely look the most covered in food and liquid. Unfortunately, Charlie, Sara, and Caden were filled. A couple more kids that wouldn't be able to get away with it from how obvious they looked stepped forward and when the principal was satisfied by the number of kids, he let the rest of us go but demanded we go straight to class. Victor decided to walk with me but we walked in a comfortable silence. At least to me he didn't seem awkward and I was trying not to be awkward so it seemed comfortable.
"Do I pick you up or do you want to meet me in the parking lot and I can drive us to my place?"
I looked at him and he stopped walking forward, instead pulling us to the side of the hallway so we wouldn't disturb the oncoming traffic of students. I wasn't sure what to respond. Would it be too much for him to pick me up? Would it be too much for him to drive me at all? I didn't know what to think and I was pretty sure I was overthinking it but he soon chuckled and gently flicked my nose.
He leaned in and looked down at me, his body so close to mine as he whispered, "Just meet me outside at my car after school."
He left me breathless but he didn't stay to realize the affect he had on me because he walked off soon after. Only a couple students stared but it didn't seem like they would tell. They were more curious than anything which I hope doesn't lead to anything else. The rest of the day was torture as my eyes were glued to the clock. I was dying for school to finish but time just seemed to slow down. I practically ran out the door when it was time to go. I did stop by my locker so it wouldn't seem like I rushed over to him. However, I couldn't stop how quickly I changed my books and got the ones I truly needed. Max met me at my locker before I could go but I took a deep breath and realized how ridiculous I was being. He talked to me about what happened at lunch and as we walked out of the school doors my eyes couldn't stop from finding Victor. Only I wished my eyes didn't because he was currently holding a girl by the waist as he leaned against his car. They were enjoying a deep kiss and I looked away before it became obvious.
"Diego? You coming?"
I blinked and looked at Max. I wanted to go with Max now and I felt foolish for letting my brain think different thoughts. However, I did make a deal with Victor. I knew I had to suck it up and deal with the situation. I couldn't run from it. So with great hesitation, I shook my head and explained the situation to Max who nodded and said goodbye after being a little shocked. With heavy feet I dragged myself to Victor's car, the girl now gone as Victor sat on the hood of his car and his friends surrounded him.
"Hey, Diego," the friend from our class said, nodding his head at me.
I returned the gesture and said hey to the other guys that now looked at me. They seemed to be in thought but they got distracted when Victor got off his hood and gave me a charming smile. I mentally cursed myself for still thinking he was charming but I gave him a small smile in return.
"Well, see you guys later. We gotta go," Victor said and they all gave their goodbyes.
We silently entered his car but you could sense the silence between us was not that comfortable anymore.
