Our teacher gave us a packet to work on for the rest of class and Caden and Max were currently arguing. I was trying my best to ignore Victor as I sat like a statue but I could practically feel his heated stare. It was when his hand landed on my thigh did I jump. Caden and Max were so deep in their argument that they didn't notice. I smacked Victor's hand but that only made his hold tighten. I tried not to squirm but everytime I did his hold would tighten and I was worried he'd cause an issue. I was supposed to be mad damn it!
"We need to talk," he whispered and when I didn't answer he squeezed my thigh which almost made me release a sound that would be very hard to explain.
I practically nodded my head to the point it almost fell off. Gosh, I hated him right now. But he was satisfied and let got of my thigh. When I glanced at him he had a small smirk but he was trying to hold it in. Max and Caden had just finished when Victor managed to put away his smirk and instead he focused his gaze on the two of them. Max looked beyond annoyed while Caden had a smirk, loving the annoyance he caused Max to have.
"So what was that whole argument about?" Victor asked.
"Question one of the packet,"Max mmumbled.
For the rest of the class we focused on getting the packet done and we surprisingly did. Caden had tried to start more arguments with Max but Max was so annoyed with him that he simply gave up. We practically ran out when the bell rang to signal the ending of class. Sara was confused but eventually caught up with us however as soon as her eyes landed on Max again she went back to glaring. It pretty much continued that way until lunch. Sara was upset all day while Max did his best to ignore it and instead found time to talk to Charlie. He even walked her to class earlier which she was beyond happy with. Sara wasn't her usual happy self when we began our walk to the cafeteria. She was highly annoyed and her mood got worse when Max walked Charlie to class. Of course, I wasn't exactly happy either. Victor had texted me during last period to tell me to meet him at the library mid lunch. It was safe to say both of our minds were occupied. However, you can imagine our shock when we entered, got our food, and turned to see both Victor and Caden at our lunch table. Charlie and Max were already there and you could already see Max's annoyance. When we got to the table Sara had sat down nex to me and I sat down next to Victor since he practically forced me with his eyes. Caden was sitting next to Victor on his right side and Max was right across from him, Charlie sitting by his side so she was in front of Victor.
"Mind telling us why you're here?" Sara snapped, roughly taking a bite of her food.
"I just came to remind Diego here about the tutoring session that we moved to today at lunch at the library," Victor said, looking right at me even though Sara was the one who asked.
"So then why are you here?" Max asked Caden.
"I heard a rumor going around that you're going on a date," Caden spit out. "Just wanted to come and ask if it was true. I love drama," he said sarcastically.
Sara laughed in such a fake way, it would put Barbie to shame. She stabbed her food and glared down at it. She was planning murder for sure.
"Oh, of course he is. And it isn't with me. Oh no, it's with my fake best friend, Charlie. Sweet, sweet, sweet Charlie," Sara said, stabbing her food everytime she said Charlie's name. "And get this, I heard another rumor that Diego had a date also!"
My head snapped in her direction quicker than it could handle. I actually heard a small crack but that wasn't what was so important now. Caden chose to ignore Sara's attitude and instead focused on the fact that Max's date was confirmed. Almost simultaneously, Caden and Victor stood up and both said the same words, it made me shiver.
"We need to talk."
While Max stood his ground I was slowly getting up to follow Victor. In my defense I wanted to clear up that I told no one about us or didn't agree to any date. I was a little worried that Victor would think that I outed him but I was determined to let him know I didn't and would never. He led me out the cafeteria, past the library and to the back of the school outside where we jumped the fence. We waited until the right time to jump the fence and hid in the bushes when security heard the noise. I thankfully didn't land on my butt this time and I just tripped when I landed.
"Come on," Victor said and grabbed my hand, pulling me along to his car when the security left.
We drove in silence but I could still see that his jaw was locked. Maybe I should be the one with more attitude. I mean what he heard was a rumor that was of course false. What I saw was real. What a great day today turned out to be. Happy first day of being together Victor.
He parked the car down the street from his place and my old place, turning off the car and mumbled, "Let's go."
We both got out the car and walked to the back of my old place. I was surprised no one was watching the house or hasn't bought it. Our keys still worked to enter through the back door. Victor led me to my old room and looked out the window to see if anyone was there. All the neighbors here were working people that had an 8-5 job. It was safe to say that no one was home unless they had the day off.
"Did Hector ask you out?"
I rolled my eyes and sat down on the ground, pulling my knees to my chest. He was actually upset about this and even brought Hector into it. Was he going to ignore the events of what happened this morning? Maybe I should end things before I get seriously hurt. I mean day one and we are already arguing. Talk about toxic.
"No."
He turned to me but I was surprised that he didn't have accusing eyes. Instead he had soft eyes yet his jaw was still locked. It was more loose but still locked. Seeing his warm and soft eyes made me sigh and I looked down.
"Why did you let her?" I asked miserably.
He let out a sigh of his own and sat down beside me, grabbing my hand into his and giving my knuckles a small kiss. If that was his apology then I didn't want it. I wanted an explanation. Not a kiss to make me forget. Plus. That wasn't even an actual kiss which he still hasn't given me.
"She clung to me as soon as we got to school. I didn't know how to get her off without it seeming suspicious."
"So you pull her closer to you?"
He rubbed his forehead and suddenly grabbed me so I was sitting on his lap. The surprise gasp left my lips before I could process what was happening. He cupped my cheek and looked at me, searching for something that would tell him that it was okay, that we were okay. But he didn't find it.
"I'm sorry for hurting you. You're my sunshine though, not her. She actually never was and we didn't have anything real. I will not let her do anything anymore and figure out a way to get out of those situations. Just please don't be mad at me anymore. I'm sorry, sunshine. Please forgive me."
I knew I shouldn't have but I slowly nodded my head. Truth was, I didn't want to lose him. I've been attracted to him for so long that now that I have him I was greedy and didn't want to let go. I had that feeling that it was going to come crashing down but I still wanted him. I began to make my way of getting off of him but he surprised me by cupping both of my cheeks now and placing his lips on mine.
