The next morning I woke up feeling tired but not in a terrible mood. Victor told me to think about what he said after we hugged last night and then he left my room to go back to Caden's. I thought I wouldn't have been able to simply go back to bed but I was so tired that I knocked out again. I guess sleep is more important to me than Victor telling me he wants me.

"Diego, its time to get up. Breakfast is ready and Daniel wants us to eat together."

I quickly changed into a plain white shirt with black jeans and original converse to finish off the outfit. My hair decided to be messy so I didn't even bother with it and instead walked down the stairs to the kitchen where my mom was setting the table. I helped her out and soon Daniel, Caden, and Victor appeared. Caden wore a black shirt with dark blue jeans and Victor wore a red flannel with black jeans. Overall, Victor was beyond handsome and Caden was. . .

"Diego, go ahead and sit down. I can take the last thing."

I kissed my mother's forehead before sitting down opposite of Caden, Caden's father taking a seat beside him and Victor sitting next to me.

My mother sat at the end of the table next to Caden and I smiled when I saw how happy my mother looked. Daniel is always off at work but my mother absolutely loves when he has spare time for my mother. He always dedicated his spare time for her and I couldn't ask for a better man for my mother. Of course no one can take my dad's place but Daniel was second best.

"Well, I hope you guys enjoy the food. There's pancakes, toast, and bacon. Go ahead and dig in," my mother announced and thanked Daniel as he began to serve her food first.

After my mother had her food, we all served ourselves and I had to hold in my moan from how good the food was. Gosh, my love for food was amazing. I can't imagine life without food and the very thought of it scared me. A life with no food? No thank you.

"So, Victor, how was your sleep?" My mother asked, giving him a genuine smile.

He finished swallowing his food before saying, "It was good. I had to argue with Caden to give me another pillow but he eventually gave in."

My mother laughed while Daniel scolded Caden about manners to guest to which Caden rolled his eyes. My mother seemed to like Victor a lot and I couldn't help but to agree of course. Daniel also seemed to like Victor and his manners. Victor was our first official guest here and he did a great job impressing the adults.

"How's Max, Diego?"

"He's good. His dad is home again."

"Oh really? I should go and say hello," my mom said.

Max's dad used to be best friends with my dad so my mom and him have a great friendship. It was kind of how Max and I became closer. We became friend not knowing about our parents but their relationship helped ours so it was great in the end. Max's father was there for my mother and I when my father passed, but Max's mother also set unnecessary boundaries, thinking my mother had a thing for her husband even though my father had just died.

"That would be nice. His wife is gone from 12 to 1," I replied sassily.

"Diego," she warned and shook her head.

"I'm sorry, I'm lost," Daniel said.

"Just some jealous woman thinking my mom has a thing for a married man," I grumbled.

"Must be true," Caden mumbled.

"Caden!" Daniel gasped and my mom's eyes widened, a look of hurt falling on her face.

"You want to cause another scene? Because I have a plate full of food that will look great on your face," I said, standing up when he did.

"Boys enough!" Daniel said but Caden was ready to bounce on me any second.

Victor pulled me back and Daniel had to grab Caden. I was tired of him and his comments about my mother. I hated Caden. How dare he say these things about my mother? He had no right! He doesn't know my mother and he doesn't even try to!

"Apologize right now! My mother is loyal and always will be! Unlike you, fuckboy!" I yelled, struggling against Victor's strong hold.

"Fuck that, fuck you, and fuck her!" Caden yelled back, also struggling against Daniel's hold.

"Guys please! It's too early for this," Victor said, pulling me more back into his chest.

Suddenly my mother's chair scrapped against the floor and fell down on the ground. I stopped my struggle and turned in time to see her leave the room. Daniel tried calling after her but she didn't stop. Daniel didn't hesitate, he let go of Caden and rushed after my mother. I took the chance to get out of Victor's hold since he was in shock and quietly followed after them. I could hear my mother crying and Daniel trying to comfort her. What pissed me off was that my mother was crying and blaming herself instead of being upset with Caden. My mother wasn't happy. She cries more than she did when she was single and it hurt me. I just wanted my mother happy.

"Diego."

I slowly turned and saw Victor there, a worried look on his face. A knock on the door was heard and I walked past Victor and didn't even both with Caden who was still upset in the dining room. I opened the door to see Max. He had a smile on but when he saw my face, his face became worried and he pulled me into a hug.

"Let's go," he said and I nodded.

I went to quickly grab my backpack, ignoring Caden still, and rushed back to Max who closed the door behind us. We entered his car and he began to drive, not asking a single question and letting me have some space. He was the bestest best friend I could have ever asked for.
