We haven't spoken for thirteen months. As hard as that was, I knew the worst was over. I was finally coming back to get her. Would she still be waiting for me? That was the million dollar question I asked myself constantly. Surely Sedna hadn't tried to pair her off with anyone. Alanna... Well Aida, was outspoken, I'm sure she convinced her mom not to her let. Or if she did, it's because she didn't want me anymore.
"Souls, we need to tell Sedna about what Sapphira told us," Yellowtail piped up.
"I know... but who knows if she'll allow it."
"Well she promised Aida that she could go with you. Surely she will be fine with her meeting the Zephyr, besides it was bound to happen sometime."
Yellowtail had become my next trusted adviser outside of Jewel when it came to business. Since Patch was back with Aida it had taken me awhile to figure out what I was supposed to do without him.
"Jewel!"
"What is it now Souls?" she asked moodily.
"I need you to steer, there's something I must check."
Her eyes lit up as she raced to the wheel.
"Women," I thought and went down into my quarters to look at the map and papers I had strewn about my desk.
I needed to get my mind off of her for now. This wouldn't get me there any faster nor would it reveal if she still wanted me. I was becoming so impatient though...
The Zephyr had informed me about alarming news when I had journeyed to visit them. Their Ring had been tampered with and was "losing" its power or something to that degree. People in their village were getting ill and some were becoming powerless. It was as if their Ring was their life support. Honestly I wasn't for sure what was going on entirely but I knew for a fact I had never seen anything like this before. I don't even know how someone would be able to tamper with one of the Rings.
Patch would be able to answer all these questions surely. He was the most knowledgeable man I had ever known.
"Caleb, we're coming up to Sedna's lair!" Corkscrew joked.
"Be right up!"
I walked over to the miror and checked to see if I looked any different than I had thirteen months ago. My face was leaner, I guess you could say but everything else still seemed normal. Would Aida be the same? Had she even been allowed onto land?
"Caleb! We're here," Jewel announced.
I walked onto the deck and gazed at the ocean that held Sedna's palace underneath. Within a few minutes I would find out whether Aida still loved me or not.
