Jewel decided to practice her sword fighting skills with me for some time since we wouldn't be arriving to Pyra's anytime soon. I was a little rusty at first but soon it was like old times.
Skye watched with fascination as I blocked every blow Jewel threw at me. When Jewel put her sword down to end it, I invited Skye over.
"Aida I do not know anything about sword fighting."
"Just watch okay I'll teach you. If you get cut the wound will heal on its own."
Everyone helped Skye as we dueled for a little while. She was not the fastest learner but after awhile she caught on and was able to defend herself.
"Well done Skye," Caleb congratulated and helped her steady the weapon and gave her a few pointers.
"Let me show you how it's done," he winked at me as I prepared to take my stance.
"Remember Princess never trust a Pirate," he held a sparkle in his eye as I lunged at him gracefully.
He watched me for a second as he counteracted my blow.
"You're faster," I growled and blocked another blow that would've cut my hair if I had been a second slower.
"I've had time," he followed me with his steps treading lightly.
"I see that," and bounded over him as I pinned him against the mast. Of course he had time, with a body like his he was constantly doing some sort of labor or workout to keep in shape. What better way to occupy your time on a ship?
We stayed there breathing heavily as everyone watched.
"You're good Princess," he sheathed his sword and walked away leaving me looking at the post.
I didn't expect him to kiss me in public but what had I done wrong this time? he acted as if I was my mother. Obviously not being the case since we had completely different personalities!
"Caleb," I followed him to his room and leaned against the doorway.
He threw his knife into the wall and cursed.
"I'm not understanding what I did wrong."
"You didn't do anything Alanna." He turned wearily and casted his eyes away from me.
"Then why do you act like we're from two different worlds?"
"Don't you see that we are?" he took a step towards me.
"No, because you wanted me before we knew I was a Princess! And ontop of that I'm part Pirate anyways! Caleb I want you in my life, do you not want the same?"
"Alanna believe me I do, it's just,"
"It's what Caleb. I want you, and I'll always want you even when I begin ruling. I love you!" I screamed as my heart began breaking from the words he said that I had feared once meeting him.
He embraced me and rubbed my back soothingly. "Alanna I'm sorry, I'm so sorry."
"Please don't hurt me," I cried into his shoulder and wrapped my arms tightly around him.
"I'm not going to hurt you love," he kissed my forehead gently.
"Promise?" I choked barely trusting myself to hold back anymore tears.
"Alanna look at me," he lifted my chin and stared into my eyes. "I swear on my life that we still stay together from now on. I'm not losing you again."
I kissed him with urgency and felt his arms embrace me tighter.
"I. won't. leave. you." He continued to kiss me as the ship continued sailing on.
