Well.... the future didn't look so bright after all. Seems like fate had a way of pulling us apart. Was this the Gods way of telling us that we weren't meant to be together? Granted I shouldn't be pessimistic, because we haven't gone yet, but Saraphina was right. This was suicide.

"Skye," I pulled her aside and led her to a more private area.

"I know Caleb, I'll keep her safe, just worry about yourself."

"Right..." I sighed and appreciated her efforts to try and console me.

"Besides if her Ring decides to act on it's own, we won't be having to worry about anything."

That was also true. Aida's Ring never seemed to follow orders that well, unless it was giving them out. But there was the case that it went against her and ended up destroying us...

"You should probably go see her, she might be wondering where you went," she remarked.

"Of course, well... goodnight Skye."

"Goodnight Souls."

Jade flew up and landed beside me as I jumped slightly from her silent approach.

'Sorry did not mean to disturb you. Then again, I assumed Pirates were not ones so easily distracted.'

"It's... well... I was just looking for the Princess," I confessed while blushing slightly.

'Ahh, I see. She is over there with Stygian, it's kind of hard to see him since he blends in with the sky."

There was a faint glimmer in his orange eyes that reflected his black face as he looped and swirled around in the air effortlessly.

"What is he doing?" I asked in awe while watching a stream of steady fire light up the sky even more.

'I'd say showing off but it is not my place to judge. I assume he is showing the Princess how dragons maneuver in battle and what she will need to do when it comes time to fight on one of us.'

"Jade what are the chances of her being harmed? With the Ring and being on Stygian, it should be one to nothing right?"

'Even Dragons can make mistakes Caleb. Though humans are more capable of doing so, even the most cunning and oldest can do it too. She may not be harmed as badly as what you are imagining but there is still great risk. Remember, she has something that everyone has been searching for for ages to get their hands on. Aida is the only thing standing in their way.'

My gut clenched in fear as I gazed at the girl who's being had captured my heart long ago. The thought of losing her seemed unimaginable and yet it was possible.

Although she was within my grasp at the moment she still seemed so far away with the black dragon who was continuing to shoot fire into the sky.
