Cold Fate

By the time we decided that the playlist was full enough for now, the rain had disappeared. The sun shining brightly and the dark clouds were gone.

An idea popped into my head and I jumped up, making Rei to jump at my sudden movement. "The field!!" Was all I said as I rushed out of my room and ran to the front door.

To the side was a closet, inside I rummaged around to find my boots. I grabbed them and quickly slipped them on. Closing the closet back and opening the door.

A gush of wind hit me, I breathed it in. The nice smell after rain filling up my senses. Rei by my side as I closed the door back and walked over to my bike. It had stayed nice and dry underneath the overhang.

I walked it over to the drive way and hoped on. "You ready for some puddles?" I asked Rei in a almost challenging tone, he smirked and hoped onto his spot. "You better believe I am!" He replied as we left the driveway.

The muggy feeling in the air hitting our skin, it felt nice in a way.

This time we were ready to face the hill. Within mere minutes we had made it to the park, peddling my way down the specific paths. Then it was right in front of us, luckily the ground was mostly dry so it wasn't too slick.

The steep hill was daunting. I took a deep breath, my lungs slightly burning as I moved forward. Rei grabbing onto me for support, looking down. I barely had to pedal as we flew down the hill, the soft wind pushing our hair back. It wasn't nearly as fast as the first time we had crashed.

My hand hovering over the breaks as I smiled, staying calm as we glided carefully to the bottom. I left out a sigh of relief as I parked my bike off to the side, looking ahead.

The field wide open, most of it was practically swamp from the storm. I ran, Rei laughing and following me. I jumped into the puddle, water splashing up against my jeans and Rei. He pouted and jumped next to me, splashing me.

"Hey! Mine was a accident! This isn't a swimming pool dumbo!" I laughed and playfully shoved him.

The wind brushing against my damp jeans making me shiver. Making me wonder if Rei felt the weather. "Hey, tell me if this is cold." I said with a evil look, he gasped and backed up. Knowing what I was doing. "No way!" His panicked voice making me giggle as I ran at him. Water scooped up in my hands, them feeling a bit numb. My boots splashing up water as I ran after him.

"Oh come on Rei, don't be a scaredy-cat! It's just a little water~" I teased as I threw what was left of the water in my hands. His yellow sweater getting wet, he turned to face me.

I couldn't see his face as he was looking down. I gasped and a shiver traveled down my spine as he looked up, glaring at me. "Oh, you are so getting it now." His voice deep and barely above a whisper.

I didn't waist anytime as I ran, making sure to not fall. Ignoring my small coughs as I tried my best to escape. "Have mercy! Have mercy!" I yelled as my legs started to get tired as well as my throat. "No! Wait wait! Please!" I begged as I was lifted off the ground. Facing him as he carried me, hovering me over a big puddle. Making sure it wasn't too high up to hurt me as he threatened to drop me into the water.

"Rei, I don't wanna be soaked. Please!" I wriggled in his grasp, trying to avoid my fate. He smirked and pulled my face closer to his, mere inches away. My face heating up as I looked at him. "It's just a little water~" he teased me with the same words as mine as he dropped me.

I fell into the water, the cold feeling making me breath faster as I quickly scrambled back to my feet. I coughed as Rei laughed, holding his stomach with on arm and using the other to point at me. "Y-you look l-like a wet c-cat!" He wheezed.

I rolled my eyes as I walked over to him. Yanking his sweater off of him, leaving him in a white button up T-shirt. His sweater was only a bit damp as I slid it on.

Smirking in success as it gave me warmth. I figured I wouldn't have to worry about mom asking about the sweater. Since it was Rei's, and it being somewhat transparent, I figured it was one of those things that only me and him could see.

He accepted his cold faint and let me keep it, a pink haze on his cheeks as he looked away. Following me back to the bike. We both decided that we wouldn't do anything more with water out in the cold anymore. Even after all that I couldn't help but keep a smile on as we made our way back home.

I nuzzled into the yellow piece of clothing. Listening to Rei hum the music from earlier as I focused forward. The world seemed to hum too. Birds singing softly, distant sounds of cars, the wind making a quiet whistle.

All of it was beautiful music to my ears.
