Fort In Shambles

The empty cups sat on the small bedside table. I was rushing around, grabbing some things from around the house. Such as small snacks, extra blankets, and a big pile of movies. Horror movies to be exact. All of this was stacked up in my arms, barely being able to see in front of me.

I stumbled into my room, dumping the items onto my bed. Rei looking at all of it. Now it was later in the day, after dinner. All dark. Perfect for a horror movie marathon if I do say so myself.

Earlier when I had mentioned it to Rei, he insisted that we make a blanket fort. Luckily mom was in her room and didn't see me searching the whole house and taking every blanket in sight.

I simply rolled my eyes at the childish boy in front of me. Currently putting his plans into action. "Okay! So I was thinking we could set this one here, then clip that one next to it! Then do that all the way around and add those ones on top!" He blurted out, making wild motions with his hands. Bouncing and rushing around with multiple blankets in his arms and over his shoulders.

I couldn't help but laugh and join in. Constructing this as if it were some important structure, making sure there were no flaws that could cause a collapse or  cause 'injury'.

Soon it was complete, the fort taking up most of the room, including the bed. Pillows covering the inside, many of the thicker and softer blankets were left of the bed.

I situated the snacks and assortment of movies on the table. Luckily we were able to fit the tv under the fort. Having quite a good view of it from the comfy bed. I put the first movie in and got cuddled into the bed. "Have you seen this one before?" Rei asked, his eyes fixated on the screen. "Maybe? I'm not to for sure." I replied, glancing over the names of the title screen.

We were about halfway through the pile of movies. Rei seemed almost entranced in it. Probably never seeing a tv before, let alone a movie. Though I did enjoy seeing how he jumped every once in a while at the jumpscares.

That's when I got an evil smirk. The movie was silent, most likely another jumpscare ahead. I watched as the character was about to round he corner, and as soon as they did, "AHHHH!!" I screamed and grabbed onto his shoulders, shaking him. He screamed as well, jumping- well, floating up quickly. His hands going up in defense.

He had hit something, because as soon as he went up, part of the fort came down. My lungs were hurting from laughing so much. I was laying on my side, small tears trailing down my face as I coughed. Part of the fort draped over me as Rei complained.

"Kage! That was the good part! And now the fort is in shambles!"

"S-s-shambles!!" I wheezed out. Practically dying at this point. He pouted and picked me up and floating above the bed. I covered my mouth as my laughs turned into a coughing fit. He quickly handed me one of the water bottles and sat me back on top of the bed with all of the 'shambles'. I choked out a thank you before chugging it down.

Gasping for air and trying to calm down I looked at him. A big dumb smile on my face. "Scaredy-cat~" I teased at him. "Pshh, no way! Your just a big ol' meanie!" He retaliated, puffing his cheeks out.

I shook my head and looked at the mess of my room. Pillows and blankets coated the ground, snacks and wrappers all over the table, and the movie on the tv paused. I sighed and laid back. Closing my eyes, feeling Rei plop down next to me. Soon I felt my eyes grow heavy and my need for sleep set in. "Best marathon ever.." I said before finally drifting off.
