  《Rei pov》

I jumped forward, panicked at how everything happened so suddenly. Kage was out. My mind went blank, thoughts all fuzzed and blurred in my head.

Holding him close to me, his heart beat was slowed, hands cold. What should I do? I'm stuck. No, we're stuck. Snow showering down on us, things slowing and blurring white around us.

I looked at him, his face was red. The cool wind biting at his nose and ears. I huffed and stood up. Pushing my fear down. I couldn't just sit here and wait for the worst. I am his guardian ghost. And yes, I havent exactly lived up to that, but I would sure as hell make up for it now.

Holding him as close to me as I could I rushed over to the bike. Trying to memorize what Kage did when he always biked them around.

First, kickstand, then work on situating them so nobody would fall off. One of my hands desperately gripped onto Kage, the other holding onto one of the handles. Looking at the handle.

My mind crossed over the thought of how different I was. My hands riddled with scars, them colored a soft and pale pink color. Not only that, but they were seethrough. Everything about me was. Almost invisible.

  Ghost.

"Please, hang on." I whispered. To myself at this point. My hair was pushed back, coated with small snowflakes, eyes squinted from all the rough wind. Kage shivered against me, making me peddle faster. Soon his house came into view, going into the driveway I got off quickly. Simple laying the bike down, carrying him up to the door.

Then I stopped. Itd be ironic to say that I froze in that moment. I would knock on the door and his mother would most likely take him to the hospital. Then what. Would he get better? That's what I'd like to think. That's what I want. But that's not always the case. What if he..

  He'd be gone..then what?

What? I'd just be a ghost. A ghost that aimlessly wonders around, looking for something to fill a empty part of me. To finish my unfinished business. Someone to finish a bucket list with.. I sank, at that thought.

My eyes fogging with tears. I held up my fist to the door, my clamped hand shaking. I knocked as loud as I could manage.

After that things played out how I expected them to. She came out, tears falling down her face and rushed him to the hospital. I had stayed as close as I could to him in that rush. Soon it became hard to though, everyone quickly doing things around him.

Setting him in a hospital bed and hooking him up to an iv and taking various tests. A small screen next to his bed beeping slowly, a simple blue line representing his heartbeat. His whole life on a simple screen.

It was slow, his heartbeat. I hovered over him, examining to see any possible sign of him waking up. A few hands and arms passing through him at some points to check things.

His face was calm. Making me wonder what he was dreaming of, was it nice? Looking to the door of the room. The small glass window on it was covered by someone standing in front of it. Kage's mother was on the phone. A more serious look on her face, it turning soft as she looked in to Kage.

She put her phone up and talked to a nurse for a moment. Then she left. Presumably called into work. I felt bad, but I didn't blame her for leaving. She was a only parent and had to pay the hospital bills for her son.

I smiled gently, it made me happy that she cared for Kage the right way. It was somthing that I couldn't have, so it was good to see that others got it.

Taking in more of the environment, it was quiet. The sent of lemon cleaner wafted in the air, warmth filling the room. The curtens were open so you could look out the windows, though it didnt change much since it was cloudy out. Dark sky with snow still falling from it.

All of it was surreal. My one and only friend was in the hospital. Grasping onto the chance of living. And all I could do was wait. Wait for him to be okay. Wait for him to wake up. Wait to see his beautiful smile.

  Wait.

I sighed and floated over to the chair next to his bed. A lamp was on the bedside table. Illuminating the small space around it with a yellowish glow. I got comfy and basked in the warmth, looking out the foggy window.

Maybe this cozy wait wouldn't be that bad, because it'd all be worth it when he wakes up..
