That was how we stayed all last night, close to each other in a sense of comfort. My mom alarm clock woke me up and dragged me out of bed. Saying that we'd go drop off the toys and run some errands. So I quickly rushed through breakfast and getting ready, picking up my wallet at the mention of a book store. Rei teasing me for geeking out about the books. I teased him back before making my way to the front door.
Soon the world was flying past us in the car, small conversation between me and mom and the radio playing as background noise. I felt bad for Rei and that he had to sit in the back all by himself. After a short ride we made it to the place where you could drop off the donations. Mom just got out since it would only take a few minutes.
When she got back in she gave me a proposition, "If you want to, I can drop you off at the book place while I run some errands, then I'll come and pick you up and we can go get lunch." I nodded my head, very much liking that idea.
The book store that I had always went to was quite nice. The workers always wore kind smiles and knew me well. Along with the store part it had a small cafe area where you could order something and then enjoy your book.
In that area you would often see college students with some kind of carbonated drink and typing away on their laptop. Most likely finishing something very last minute.
Then there was me in the corner, with a chilled drink and a pile of new books, sitting with me was usally my empty wallet.
I never really liked library's all too much. I was a fan of having the book for myself and being able to keep it. It's been this way ever since I was little. Mom always seemed amused at my excitement to go to a simple book store.
And as soon as we pulled onto the parking lot I jumped out of the car when she unlocked it. "Thanks mom see you soon!" I rambled quickly and motioned for Rei to follow.
He rushed to merge out of the car and float up to me, keeping up. Laughing a bit at my reaction. "Its like this place is your second home!" He added. I blushed and hushed him.
After greeting a few of the long term employees I went to the section I liked and scoped it out. Now, some people may say that manga isnt really books but I believe they are. It's what I'm used to reading.
Rei seemed a little interested too, reading the backs of the ones I picked out. Him telling me that he'd only ever read newspapers in his life. I promised to let him read them all with me. I walked over and paid for them, only having 7 dollars left over. Which I bought a cake pop and drink with.
After that I sat down in a corner seat and started to read. Him joining me and reading over my shoulder. Whispering comments about it or laughing. I smiled and laughed quietly at some of his reactions.
This being a new experience for the both of us. A ghost reading over my shoulder and him reading a book for the first time. That feeling in my chest again. It warming me up, and for once I just simply indulged in it.
