One of the most annoying things about being a superhero is not having a regular schedule. With my job as a CSI and my job as The Flash, I really can't catch a break.

Thankfully, my superhero business has been kind of slow lately. I have no clue why, but not as many meta-humans have been popping up the last few weeks, giving me more free time to spend with my loved ones. I was explaining this to Iris as we were walking into Jitters.

"Maybe we caught them all." Iris joked as we walked up to the counter.

I love CC Jitters, but the one thing I cannot get by is the employees. They're all people in that transition stage, just trying to get by, so some of them are not as friendly.

My thoughts were interrupted by a peppy voice I had never heard before. I looked down at the counter to see a young brunette girl staring back at me, waiting to take my order.

I couldn't describe it, but something inside of me clicked when I saw her. She seemed so familiar, yet I had never seen her before. She had this aura, this glow about her. She was so happy, so inspired, so hopeful, like she had no idea about all of the dangers and downsides to this world.

"Barry." Iris nudged at me. "You okay?" She asked.

I snapped out of examining this kid to realize I hadn't ordered yet. She didn't seem to care less, though. She just stood there patiently waiting. Part of me thought she might've just been examining me the same way.

"Can I get you anything?" She spoke.

"Sorry, yeah, just a decaf Flash." I stammered, trying to stay as uncreepy as possible.

For some reason, the word "flash" made her blue eyes light up, making me smirk. It's always slightly amusing to see fans in action.

"I'll have that right out for you." She grinned, stepping away from the counter to prepare the drinks.

Sitting down waiting for our drinks, a news segment on the TV caught mine and Iris's eye:

"Early yesterday morning, Icecap Industries' lab was shut down and condemned for rumors of meta-human testing on minors. Officials cannot provide more information, and Icecap Industries had declined to comment."

"Damn, that's horrible. Who would do that to a child?" Iris pointed out.

I nodded my head in agreement as the same girl from earlier came up to our table carrying our drinks, eyeing the television. I noticed her name tag said "Sara" on it.

"Yeah, it sucked-sucks, it sucks." Sara stammered, putting down our drinks and slinging her rag over her shoulder.

"I've never seen you before, are you new in Central City?" Iris questioned.

"Uh-Yeah, I literally just got here yesterday. My name's Sara, by the way." Sara smiled, slightly leaning on the counter.

"I'm Iris, and this is my husband, Barry. It's nice to see a fresh face in this coffee shop." Iris smiled.

"Can I get you two anything else?" Sara asked. For some reason, I had the urge to make conversation.

"Where are you from, Sara? What made you decide to come to Central City?" I blurted out.

Her face altered slightly. "Oh, uh- Coast City. I'm in foster care, and I just switched families."

Oh. Maybe I shouldn't have started with that question.

And just like that, my phone rang. It was Cisco, so it was probably important. I picked up the phone, stepping aside from the table. "Hello?" I answered.

"Bro, we got a meta on 4th and 16th disrupting traffic and causing destruction. Showtime." Cisco said quickly over the phone.

I gave the signal to Iris, letting her know my job. She seemed like she wanted to stay at CCJitters for a bit, so I let her.

"I have to go to a crime scene. It was very nice to meet you, Sara." I smiled, walking out of the store and zooming into my suit.

Thank God for Cisco's new ring design.

Arriving at the intersection, there were cars lined up down the block in every direction. They were all surrounding a large ring of flames - that were bright green. Someone was screming from the middle, but they were only causing more flames to appear.

This must be the meta, but I'm not sure if they wanted this to happen.

"Cisco, the flames are green, what do I do?" I yelled into my earpiece.

"Uh, you're gonna need to create a really big vacuum with your arms to put out those flames." I heard back.

I took a deep breath, then started to move my arms in a circular motion. After a few second the flames went out, revealing the meta inside, slightly blocked by all of the smoke.

"Are you okay?" I yelled, slowly stepping closer through the smoke.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to do all of this..." The voice stammered, raising their arms at the half a dozen police officers surrounding them

As I got closer and the smoke cleared, the silhouette revealed a young boy, scared and small.

This kid didn't look a day over 15.

How did he cause all of this?
