Chapter 38

Chantel's Point of View

"Chantel!! wait for me!" I automatically rolled my eyes when I heard Vernon's voice from the back. He runs fast and he quickly catches up with me, we both ride the elevator and I remain silent because I really feel pissde of right now.

Why would Mom say that, when Kace is there. I know he would feel that Mom is right again and I don't want him to misunderstand things. "Chantel, are you mad at me?" Vernon asks while we're inside the elevator.

I didn't answer him and just kept staring at the floor number. Pagbukas ng pinto ng elevator ay agad akong umalis ng dito at ganon din ang ginawa ni Vernon.

He kept following me even though I stepped out of the company building already. "Stop following me Vernon, I'm not in a good mood," I hissed at him, and walk to the Taxi parking.

"No, I'll go with you," Pagpupumilit niya, mabilis akong sumakay ng taxi at ganon din siya.

"What the...Vernon please leave me alone!!!" I said when we were both inside the taxi.  "No, I'll follow you wherever you go, period!" He said and crossed his arms above his chest and acted like a spoiled kid.

Wala na akong nagawa kung hindi hayaan nalang siya at hindi pansinin. "Manong to the Mall, please," I said and focused on the window. I was trying my best to cool down.

Nakakainis bakit pinpilit ako ni Mom kay Vernon, I love Kace and I don't see myself loving any other guys than Kace.

My heart is marked as his and no one would change that. Mga ilang minuto din nangmakarating kami sa Mall, I paid the taxi driver and went out not minding this guy who kept following me.

I went straight inside the mall and sought the donut shop that Kace brought me when I was in high school. Good thing it's still here, same spot and same features. "Where are we going, Chantel?" Vernon said and tried to hold my hands, but I quickly avoided it and glared at him.

I was never so irritated with him ever since, I was always so nice to him and calm but at this moment I really feel irritated after what Mom said. He wanted him for me when I can have my own decision in life. Vernon is just a friend and that would never change.

I still remember how Kace bowed his head when Mom said that, I don't wanna see him that way Kace thinks of his life as a payment for my parents keeping him and continue to lock him in, following rules not say no even if he doesn't really want to do it, he had no choice. I want him to be happy and free with me.

"Chantel, please don't be mad at me, I really don't mean to force you and make you pressured about me courting you." Vernon sincerely said while we walked inside the shop.

At first, I wanna sit on the same seat where Kace and I sit back then but when I realize that I'm with Vernon and he'll surely sit on the same seat where Kace sits. So I choose to find other spot ayaw kong may ibang uupo sa spot na iyon kundi si Kace lang.

"Let's seat," walang gana 'kong sambit at umupo na, he followed me and seat in front of me with worried face. I sat and glared at him.

"Chantel, please don't give me that look, I'm sorry, what do you want me to do, just to make you feel better," He said. Agad akong nakaisip ng bagay na pwedi niyang gawin, "Buy me two box of chocolate glazed donut that will do I guess" I said.

"But, Tita Vivian said you shouldn't eat sweets nor chocolates," Nagaalala nitong sambit, tinaasan ko siya ng kilay at sinabi, "Then you need to leave me alone before I'll get totally Mad at you then," this is the first time I speak rudely at other, maybe because I really feel pissed at this moment.

"Ok, Ok, I'll buy you three boxes," He said and hurriedly ran to the counter. As he goes away I grab my phone instantly and text my man.

Love, I'm with Vernon he keeps following me. Don't worry I'll clear everything to him. That I just see him as a friend and there's no chances of us being together. You know where I belong right, see you at your pad later. Love you so much.

I was expecting to receive a reply within a second but I didn't have one. I guess he's still busy with Dad's task.

Maybe he'll reply after he's done with his work. "Here's your three boxes," Vernon buys three boxes like what he said and I get him and stand up. "Thank you," I said and started walking with these three boxes. "Wait, Chantel where are you going?" He asked and followed me again.

I find a place where we can talk and I choose to go to a coffee shop and buy us drinks. "Seat," I said when we finally found a place.

He sat in front of me and took a sip on his frappe, "I want to clear things out Vernon, I only see you as a friend please don't expect something from me and don't get my Mom involved in this," I seriously said and make it clear to him.

"Do you have someone you like already so you're not giving me a chance?" Vernon suddenly became serious also and asked me. I suddenly feel uneasy when he asks that and I feel scared that our relationship might get caught so I need to deny it.

"No, I don't have and I still don't have any plan, Your my friend and nothing else Vernon," I said calmly to hide the tense of hiding my relationship with Kace.

"Give me one week to prove myself Chantel, one week if you don't fall in love with me then I'll stop," He said and I know he's serious about this.

"I don't know, I'll go now please don't follow me this time I'm going to my friends house bye," I said and this time he listened and I left him, and went straight to Kace pad even though it's still early in the morning.

I'll just ask my assistant to send me all my work. I stayed at his pad the whole day and tried to cook simple fry fish fillet for lunch and dinner later so Kace will just rest when he goes home. I also clean his room after I finish all my paperwork. Then watch TV while waiting for him.

After a few hours, I heard the door open and I quickly stood up and ran to him. "Love!!" I jumped into him and hugged him so tight. "You're here the whole day?" he asked and put me down, he looked exhausted and tired, so I got his coat and helped him fix his thing.

Pagkatapos kong ayusin ang coat niya at neck tie niya agad akong nagayos at naghain ng pagkain para saming dalawa but... "Hey Love where are you going?" I asked him when he was walking through his room.

"I'll take a shower and sleep, I just feel so tired and I need to sleep," pagod niyang sambit habang tinatanggal ang butones ng kanyang shirt. "But, aren't you gonna eat first?" I ask while putting the plate on the table.

"Oh that, sorry I already ate because Cad and I had an early dinner meeting with the investors," He said and it really looks like he wanted to sleep badly. "But I cook this for you? Won't you like to taste a bite?" I said and smiled at him, showing him what I've cooked.

He looked at it and smiled a little bit, "Thank you, but I'm really full. I'll just eat that tomorrow morning, put it in the fridge, goodnight Paige," he said, walk inside his room, and closing it.

Nanatili akong nakatayo sa aking kinatatayuan at nakatingin sa pinto ng kwarto niya, mga ilang segundo lang ay narinig ko ang pagtagas ng tubig mula sa bathroom ng kwarto. "But, I waited for you Love, even though I'm so hungry," I whisper and put back all the food on the fridge.

I'm hungry but I don't feel like eating, also the three boxes of donuts I just put in the fridge and continue watching the movie.

When the movie is done, I walk straight to his room and see him sleeping soundly on his bed.

He is already wearing a black pajamas and gray shirt, there are papers at the side table. Kaya sa tingin ko nagbasa muna siya saglit bago matulog.

I lay on the bed at hugged him, siniksik ko ang sarili ko sa kanya at niyakap siya ng mabuti. Siguro bukas masasarapan siya sa niluto ko, excited na ako.

I stare at his handsome sleeping face before I reach for his lips and kiss him, "Goodnight Love, I love you," I whisper and close my eyes. "I love you so bad."
