Sydney's POV

From my apron pocket I feel my phone vibrate. Looking around, I see a fairly empty bar so I decide to take the call. The ID identifies the caller as Ashton.

"Hey." I say all sing-songy after pressing the green button.

"Hey, how's work?" He says, matching my cheerful tone.

"Great." I say, peeking at the customers around the bar. "It's really wild right now."

"I'm sensing just a smidge of sarcasm."

"No, really they're throwing beer bottles and everything!" I dramatically whine.

"Well it sounds like you need someone to take care of that."

I scoff. "I'm insulted, you think I don't know how to handle drunk people?! For Christ sake I work at a bar!" Ashton chuckles over the line and I sigh in contentment at the hearty sound.

"What was that?" Ashton asks, and I'm immediately embarrassed.

"Nothing..." Dead silence hangs on the line. "So I'm guessing you didn't call me just to ask how work was."

"Yeah. I actually wanted to know if you wanna grab a bite to eat later tonight...?" His voice goes up at the end of the phrase.

"Um...-"

"I mean that is if your not working."

"No I'd love to. I get off at seven. Meet at Somewhere at seven thirty?" I hear him breathe out a sigh of relief.

"Sounds like a plan. See you at seven thirty." I smile profusely.

"Bye Ashton."

Sorry about the shortness. I just love their sarcastic banter, don't you?
