Sydney's POV

Our game of truth or dare continues until I'm the only one who hasn't done anything.

"Ok...Sydney...truth...or...dare?" Michael asks me, taking huge pauses in between his words.

"Dare."

"I dare you to kiss everyone in the room on the cheek!" I blushed, I had to kiss Ashton?

"Michael...." Ashton warns, and I swear he's blushing too.

"No, it's ok. I'll do it."

I start easy, with August. I've kissed her on the cheek before, we're practically family. I lightly peck her on the cheek. Then, Luke, he seems like the most gentleman of the four. He smiles sweetly and I kiss him. Next is Calum, he looks so stupid in my bra that I giggle right before I peck him. Then Michael, with which I very obviously roll my eyes in his face, and kiss him on the cheek.

Now only Ashton is left. My heartbeat picks up as I lean in. My lips graze his cheek and I feel the spark, there's no denying it. Even though I let my lips linger a little longer then the others, it's over too quickly.

Michael whistles as I sit back down and I flip him off. "Ok, August, truth or dare?"

***
We continue playing for a while longer until Calum is pretty drunk. He ended up chugging two beers in under a minute as a dare from Luke. Michael takes best dare of the night though, he had to moon off my balcony for five minutes straight. He did it gracefully, complaining when he came back inside that his butt was cold.

After a while I switch the Billy Joel album out for another classic At Last! by Etta James. I went into my room to use the restroom and came out to a wonderful sight. Ashton was standing in front of my dresser, staring at the picture of my parents and the ring box in front of it. A low, yet silky voice filled the room, and I realized he was humming. Not wanting to interrupt him, I silently leaned against the bathroom doorframe and listened.

The way he stood there was very thoughtful, almost an intimate stance. He was the type of person that showed emotions through every fiber of him, not just his voice or his face. You could tell by the way he stood, or the way he breathed in. In the distance he spread his feet apart.

"They really mean a lot to you, don't they?" I jump and my heart rate spikes.

"You scared the shit out of me!" I pant, my heart still pounding.

"Well you're the one staring at me!" He says, still not turning around.

"But your in my bedroom, so I guess we're even." I say, folding my arms over my chest and ending the distance between us.

"Fair enough, but you didn't answer my question." He turns his head to look at me, his eyes radiating curiosity.

I don't return the stare, instead look at the picture. "Yeah." I glance down at their wedding ring that sits on my left ring finger. "They did." Even though I'm not looking at him, I see him slightly cringe.

"Did...I'm so sorry." At that moment I faintly hear At Last come on in the living room.

A tear slides down my cheek. Why the hell am I crying in front of a complete stranger? I swipe away the tear and stare at the photograph. As much as I hate what's happening, silent tears continually slip down my cheeks as I stare at the picture.

At last
My love has come along
My lonely days are over

Ashton takes my hand and intertwined our fingers. And we stand there like that while the song plays.

Awwww. Such romance. I HIGHLY SUGGEST listening to the great Etta James while you read this chapter.
