I'm pretty sure my jaw dropped.

"Um. You dropped something..." He says with an accent. I look down around my feet. "YOUR FACE!" he says obnoxiously loud and I roll my eyes at his stupid attempt at a joke.

"That was just so funny I forgot to laugh!" I say giving a fake cheesy smile and turning on my heels.

"No wait." He said grabbing my arm. My heart fluttered at his touch. "Sorry, that came out wrong. I actually came over here with a purpose." He was still holding my arm.

"And that would be...?" I said glancing down at his grip. He took the hint and let go.

"Oh yeah. I just wanted to say that you you were great up there. Even if you did take my bands spot." He lingered on the words 'my band' I guess trying to impress me.

"Sorry. But first come first serve, if you wanted the spot you should've signed up for it first."

"It's no big deal. It was nice to have some fresh meat up there. And the audience seemed to be digging you. Just be glad you didn't get stuck with the Wednesday night crowd." He chuckles. "Wild group of people." Sarcasm drips from his accented voice.

"Well thank you for the compliment," I say referring to earlier in the conversation. "And thanks for the tip." Referring to Wednesday nights.

"Not a problem. I'm Ashton Irwin, by the way." Ashton sticks out his hand for me to shake.

"Sydney Darwin." I reply grabbing his hand.

"Yeah. About that name, were your parents just terribly ironic? Or did they think naming their kid after the city they live in was a good idea?"

"Neither of the above. I'm from the United States. Wyoming actually. Can't you tell by the lack of an accent."

"Actually, to me you do have an accent, an American one."

"I never thought about it like that."

"Anyway, Wyoming to Australia. That's a pretty big move. Did you have something you needed to get that far away from?"

Out of nowhere my hands start shaking again. I hold them behind me back so Ashon won't see. Black spots appear before my vision. Ashton keeps talking and he sounds like he's underwater. I focus all my energy on him, trying not to let it show that I feel like I'm about to pass out.

"Hey are you ok?" He asks, placing hand on my shoulder.

My knees buckle and I stumble backward. Ashton catches my arm and pulls me back up.

"Hold on. Let me get you a chair." He says to me, " Calum, go ask for a glass of water." He snaps at one of his friends as he sits me down.

"I'm ok really." I mumbled pathetically, trying to stand.

My knees buckle again and I fall forward into him. August notices all this happening and rushes over.

"Syd. Sit down. You need to sit." She sits me back down and crouches in front of me. She lowers her voice. "We've talked about this before. No skipping meals, remember?"

Not wanting to respond to her question, I just nod my head. "I'm making a scene..." I croak out looking around to confirm that everyone was staring at me.

August takes the glass of water from who I'm assuming is Calum and holds it out to me. "Bottoms up." she says very seriously.

I take a couple long sips and feel a bit better. "Thanks Auggie. I think I'm ok now. But I kinda ruined our plans to go out."

She laughs, " You seriously think that's what I'm concerned about right now!" Her dimples come poking out as she giggles.

"Well I pretty much killed any chance I had with him." I tell her, nodding in Ashton's direction.

He's standing there talking with his friends with his back to me. Not wanting to let my eyes linger too long on them I scan the room. The only people left are Ashton and his three friends, the staff and manager, and August and I.

"I'm going to go talk to Ashton. To thank him." I tell August, standing up. My legs wobble and she grabs my arm to steady me.

"Carefull." She warns giving me a sympathetic look.

"I'll be fine. I'm not five." I roll my eyes.

"Says the girl who almost just fainted. I'm gonna go pack up your stuff so we can head back to your place soon."

I head over to Ashton, taking my time. Partly because I'm not quite sure what I'm going to say, and partly because I'm afraid if I walk too fast I'll faint. When I reach him I tap his shoulder. Circling around he sees it's me and friends excuse themselves.

"Hey there. I promise I'm not gonna faint this time." He chuckles softly at that.

"That's ok. I'll be prepared this time. Your alright though?" I nod. "I have to tell you that gave me quite a scare. We were just taking and bam, you're falling backward."

"Thanks for catching me."

"What was I supposed to do, let you fall? Although it would've saved me from this." He says pointing to a scratch right above his eyebrow.

I cover my mouth to keep from giggling. "I'm so sorry. I guess my ring scratched you." I say holding up my left hand.

He frowns at this and at first I don't realize why, then I remember how of this must look. "Oh I'm not married, this is my parents old wedding ring. My mom never wanted to wear it, and when I was six I told her it was too beautiful not to be worn. She gave it to me, and now I always wear it. But it has caused some serious confusion in the past." I purposely leave out the part where they die, not wanting to darken the mood.

"I'm sure it has. That's pretty cool thou-"

"Ash, c'mon we gotta go." One of his friends calls from by the door, cutting him off.

"Well it has been a pleasure meeting you. Hope to see you here next Friday night." Ashton says, sticking out his hand for me to shake.

"Nice to meet you too. Bye." I say returning the shake and waving.

Had a lot of creativity flowing when I wrote this. Sorry it was long, couldn't really just leave it with her almost fainting
