Levi lied on a branch quietly, allowing water to flow from his puffed eyes. His thin hands trembled in place despite his desperate attempts to calm down. The captain had expected anything but this, at anytime but this.
"I was stupid to think we had something...." Levi mumbled, scolding himself.
Levi's mood had been steadily improving over the months. Colors were gaining more and more vibrancy each and every time he woke up. He had even begun to get out of his bed early, without the need for anyone to collect him. Levi had begun to smile again.
Now, he felt worse than the night he attempted to commit suicide.
"Oi. That's not too bad of an idea... I'm alone up here anyways." Levi reasoned, his gaze landing on his wrists. "They'll all be too busy sticking their thumbs up their asses to notice my absence."
With every deep breath Levi took, he inhaled a painful poison that plagued his lungs; oxygen. The only way to cure the disease he knew as 'living' was to cease this pattern. All the happiness in his system had leaked out with his tears, the parastate having eaten at his eyes. Maybe that was why his pupils were so small.
"Tsk." Levi sighed, looking away from his forearms and to the sky. "I should stop contemplating such stupid things."
Unfortunately, Levi had grown a habit of breathing, and was unable to stop. He was addicted to the substance, as were most people he knew. Those who did manage to be cured didn't talk to Levi. They left him to rot with his disease while they mellowed together, free from the pain of living.
Besides, Levi could never hurt himself again. He had made a promise.
The captain broke down into loud tears following that thought, clenching his heart within his quivering hands. Levi cared for Erwin, and no mater how hard tired not to, he would always would love the commander.
No. His commander.
"Shit!" Levi yelled, cursing himself, Erwin, and whatever else he could think of at the moment.
After quite some time of weeping aimlessly, Levi became excruciatingly tired. His eyelids weighed and posture wearied. The sun had begun to set, it now resting on the border of the landscape. The captain had completely stopped crying by then, having digested the whole situation.
"I should get some sleep..." Levi mumbled, leaning back on the tree branch. "It's safe up here; Titans can't reach me."
"As long as I don't fall off, I'll be fine..." Levi concluded. "I just jinxed it, didn't I? Fuck..."
Levi chuckled somewhat, removing his cloak. He covered himself it, flipping the green hood over his face. Now that he was comfortable, Levi drifted into restful unconsciousness.

[Levi dreams of Farlan and Isabel, but does not remember what exactly happened. All he knew of it were three phrases that lingered in his mind with no context.]
"Go, Levi! Go save us this time, will you?"
[Farlan said this while frowning somewhat.]
"Come on, big brother! You were never the type to give up, so why do it now, huh?"
[Isabel said this with a toothy smile.]
"Don't come to this forlorn place. It's not your time, Levi."
[Farlan said this moments before Levi awoke.]
