Levi walked into the cooking area, of which belonged to the officers of the Survey Corps. Their kitchen was rather small compared to the cadets', since it was built to be shared between a maximum of 10 people. Unfortunately, only 4 people were left to utilize the reserved cookery.
The captain was preparing himself a small serving of coffee. After finishing brew, he poured the expresso into a tall brown beaker, which he then covered with a insulating lid. Condensation lined the exterior of the carboard container, dampening Levi's fingers once he grabbed the cup.
After he took a testing-sip of the beverage, Levi walked off and into the main mess hall with assurance. The expresso was not sweet nor bitter, just as Levi liked it. He promptly sat himself upon his table, as he did during every meal.
Only one or two cadets could be seen in the room, as it was relatively early for dinner. Levi felt at peace, resting his ears from the yelling and bickering of the regiment. He stayed put for quite some time, occasionally drinking from his coffee during his wait.
Eventually, Mike and Hanji appeared, along with the rest of the soldiers. Levi spoke up before either of his friends had the opportunity to greet him.
"Where's Erwin?" Levi inquired as Mike took a seat. "Eyebrows' usually the first one here."
"Preparing his horse and sharpening his blades." Hanji replied dismissively. "He said he wanted to get some sleep in before sunrise, so he's doing what he would have tomorrow."
"Makes sense..." Levi nodded.
"Anything new?" Levi questioned, attempting to create some small talk between his friends. "Hanji?"
"There's always something new with Hanji..." Mike chuckled, glancing over at the woman.
"Correct!" Hanji smiled and pressing her glasses further against her face in anticipation. She looked as if she was waiting her entire life for this moment. "I've managed to capture one!"
"What?" Levi spat. "Explain."
"It took me years, Levi. YEARS. Nevertheless, I persisted! I have finally captured it..." Hanji continued, a flustered blush spreading across her face.
"I can't wait to keep 'em as a pet!" Hanji grinned, pressing her palms against her cheeks.
"You haven't specified what 'it' is actually..." Mike noticed. "A Titan, I'm assuming?"
"No." Levi responded. "Erwin would never let her after last time."
"You really are crazy..." Levi exhaled, lifting himself from the chair. He then walked over to Hanji, tapping her head once he stood alongside her.
"Show me what you got."
"Really??" Hanji gasped, throwing herself off the chair and running. "Let's go, Levi!"
"You two are just going to leave your meals here?" Mike questioned, raising a brow.
"This is more important!" Hanji yelled from a distance. "Besides, I was already done anyways!"
"Not so fast, freak." Levi complained softly, chasing after the section commander.
After around 5 minutes, the pair arrived at Hanji's office. Calling her room was messy was an understatement. Papers littered the walls, them hung by heavily aged rusty nails. Most of these documents were sketches and drawings, all depicted by Molbit. The floor was a sea of crumbled packaging and empty bottles. Her desk was buried under unfinished files and paperwork.
This was the reason that Levi rarely entered Hanji's office. The hypothetical thought of living in that rat's-nest irked him. The captain grimaced at the disgusting sight.
