Rantaro Amami's body lay lifeless on the library floor.

His fresh blood was splattered across the ground, seeping into wooden cracks and painting the covers of nearby books. Some sort of heavy ball sat near his head, slathered in the dark liquid, a thick trail of it where it had rolled before.

Every student was gathered around the crime scene, frozen with shock and disgust.

My stomach dropped and my heartbeat raced as soon as Kokichi led me into the room. I had never seen a dead body before, and I never could've imagined it being this repulsive.

His once kind, green eyes were void of all emotion, the grip of death already stealing the color from them. I had to hold my hand over my mouth to keep from throwing up.

A cheery tune emanated from the library speakers, contrasting grossly with the scene in front of us.

Ding dong, bing bong~

Monokuma and the Monokubs sprang up from behind us following the tune, frightening us with the unexpected entrance.

"A body has been discovered!" Monokuma hummed.

"If the killer would like to reveal themself, they may leave this academy for good! An early graduation day! Oh, the beauty of the first blood perk~" he sang, clasping his paws together.

I looked around quickly, angrily curious at whoever was going to step up and take responsibility for murdering our fellow student.

However, nobody stepped forward.

Moments passed and not one student uttered a word.

"I see! So the blackened wants to have a class trial! Ooh, how exciting! I'll spiffy up the trail room as soon as possible, puhuhuhu!" Monokuma cheered, the Monokubs whispering excitedly to each other.

What kind of sick f*ck would want a class trial when they could've left? I really don't know what the students here are capable of...

As Monokuma and the Monokubs snuck away, I looked back at Rantaro's body in disbelief.

One of us really killed him.

"It should've been me," Ryoma muttered under his breath, hanging his head low.

"Ryoma don't say that, t'was Atua's wish that Rantaro passed on, but you're meant to be here," Angie comforted, crouching down to his level.

The thought of death didn't seem to frighten Angie, who then walked over to Rantaro's lifeless body and whispered some sort of intricate prayer.

It did scare everyone else however, when we realized that we were all going to die if we didn't discover the killer in the upcoming class trial.

"Guys, Shuichi is going to investigate! He's the ultimate detective after all, so he has to be able to discover the murderer, I know it," Kaede announced, her voice evidently less hopeful than usual.

"Kaede, I'm not- I'm not that great of a detective," he admitted, shivering at the sight of Rantaro.

She huffed, quickly grabbing his hands in hers.
