onyx was awakened to the sound of her mother in the kitchen. she checked her clock, 10:37, and rolled out of bed. she made her way into the bathroom and jumped in the shower. after a long thirty minutes in the shower, she finally got out. she blowdried her hair and brushed it out, pulling it back into a bun. she slipped on a pair of high waisted shorts and a black tube top, throwing a jacket over it.

she poured herself a cup off coffee before eating a piece of toast and heading out the door. she agreed to meet danny, her ex, at a coffee shop so they can catch up.

onyx went inside and ordered her usual, a caramel macchiato, and went out to the patio, sitting down. after a few minutes she heard a voice say her name. turning around, she was met with a very familiar face. she smiled at the blonde haired boy.

"hi, danny," he sat down across from her. "how have you been?"

"i've been okay. you?" danny asked.

"yeah, same."

"how was canada?"

onyx sighed, she felt weird after not talking to danny in almost three years, "it was fun. i met a lot of people, made some new friends."

"i saw that," danny chuckled. "who's that charles guy?"

"charlie? he works with my brother. why? is danny jealous?"

"not even close," he laughed once again. "you just seemed to be getting a little flirty with him."

"we're just friends. he's really sweet."

danny went silent. he didn't want to admit it, but he was a little jealous of charlie. "listen, i know this is weird. i just missed you. a lot. and i saw you were doing good and i just wanted to see you."

"danny, it's okay. i just don't get why. i cheated on you. i ruined our whole relationship. i hurt you."

"that was three years ago. we were 18 and immature and still in high school."

"that doesn't change what i did to you." onyx still felt guilty.

"i'm over it. you should be too. please, let's just try again. please?"

"let me think about it."

after talking for another long while, danny bought onyx another coffee before they took a walk. they strolled down to the pier, watching the waves as they crashed into the water. "think about it yet?" danny laughed

"maybe..." onyx hesitated. before she even had time to think. danny's lips were on hers, moving in sync. onyx pulled away "danny. i-i really do like you and care about you, but are you sure this is going to work?"

"yes. i'm positive. i still love you, onyx."

"i still love you too."
