"So, you're telling me that I can attend Hogwarts now, despite begging you a million times before to go?" Val blinked at her father a few times, finding him to be completely unreasonable. Why was now any different than any other time? She'd start in fourth year, which was absolutely ridiculous to her. He just nodded in reply to her question simply, and she shook her head quickly with bewilderment. "Why? I mean, why couldn't I go before?"

"Because, I feel you're truly ready now." He stated, and she scoffed. Truly, she didn't know what trials were going to lie ahead for her. Dumbledore had asked Severus to wait for his daughter to attend Hogwarts, to teach her at home and make her a highly advanced witch until the day came that he was ready for her to come and fulfill her purpose. Severus knew there was no arguing this, and Dumbledore promised she wouldn't get hurt no matter the outcome. He trusted the deeply wise man, so he obliged. But, right now, he couldn't share much with her about the plans for the future.

"What qualifies me to be ready now more than before? You go to this school to learn magic, not to attend once you've already learned it. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but this seems ludicrous." She crossed her arms over her chest. He hated doing this to her. He did care about her very deeply, of course. She was his daughter, given not with the woman he preferred it to be. Still, that didn't matter so much to him. She definitely reminded him of her mother, but ultimately, she was just like him. She looked like him; dark, long hair, dark eyes, chiseled jawline. But, she was her. She had her little button nose, her rosy cheeks, long eyelashes framing her deep-set eyes, perfectly shaped eyebrows. She always wore a seemingly emotionless expression when she was resting, just like he did. She was harsh and cold at times, but she had a big heart inside her. You just had to work to gain her trust in order to experience that, but once you did, it was well worth the work. He was beyond proud of her, magic coming naturally to her. She focused more on her studies than she did anything else and was dedicated to becoming one of the most accomplished witches of her time. Not to mention, she was insanely mature for her age, wise, equanimitous, and intelligent. For a freshly eighteen year old, that was a lot.

"You just don't understand yet. Trust me on this. Have I ever been wrong, ever done you wrong?" He asked, and she just reluctantly shook her head 'no'. "Precisely. Therefore, don't worry yourself about it. Tonight, though, I would like you to accompany me to Malfoy Manor. They're graciously hosting us for dinner, and there, you can meet someone you'll be in the same year with. That way, you'll know someone besides the professors. Assumedly, you'll be in the same house as him."

"Slytherin?" She questioned, and he nodded. It made her wonder, if she got sorted into another house, would he be disappointed in her? "Very well. When will we be leaving?"

"Within the next few hours. It's an early dinner so that the Malfoy's and I can speak privately while you and Draco get to know each other." He told her. She just nodded. Draco must've been their son. She wondered what they were like, considering her father seemed to be good friends with them. He's mentioned them several times throughout her years. She should like them, then. She decided to head upstairs and finish the studying she was doing before getting ready. She was always very presentable, partly because she was taught to have manners like that and partly because she was a girl, so she somewhat enjoyed getting dressed up.
