"Valerie! Wake up, birthday girl!"

I opened my eyes to see Colby's annoying face. "What time is it?" I groaned.

"6 am. Let's go get breakfast."

I sat up and gave him an annoyed look.

He was smiling as he handed me a small black box. "Happy birthday Valerie."

I took the box out of his hands and opened it. There was a silver necklace with my name in cursive. "Thank you!" I pulled him into a small hug.

"Yeah look my name is engraved on the V."

I smiled at him once again. His name was small but it made the gift more special.

"Can you help e put it on?" I asked as I handed it back to him.

"Yeah turn around." He moved to sit behind me on the bed and helped me move my hair out of the way. His hand brushed the back of my neck sending a shiver down my spine.

Once the necklace was on I went over to my mirror. "It's perfect! Thank you, Colby." I Turned to him before saying, "I should get ready." I went over to my closet and grabbed black jeans with a random black hoodie. I headed into my bathroom and shut the door.

I quickly changed and brushed my teeth. I put my hair in a low bun after brushing it out.

"Colby?" I didn't see him when I walked out of the bathroom.

"Boo!" Colby jumped out of nowhere.

I punched him. He deserved it. "Oh shit Colby!"

He was holding onto his nose. "You punched me!"

"What did you expect? Let me see."

He moved his hand and looked at me. His eyes were watering but it seemed fine. "Well now I know not to scare you," he laughed.

I rolled my eyes at him. I tend to do that a lot. "Can we go get breakfast now? I want pancakes."
