Chapter 15: Old Friend

I tried to keep my cool. I couldn't get mad in front of these guys.

"You weren't told?"

"I was not, " I answered and looked over at Colby.

"Your gonna need more training than we thought," another guy mentioned.

"Cole will be training with you since he will be in charge of your security team. Whomever you pick to be your second in command also will be training with you." The man, who I assumed also was the main boss of these guys, paused and looked down at the papers in front of him. "Well start hiring new members along with starting training once you guys get settled into your new home."

After the meeting, Colby and I went into my dad's office.

"How did you know?" I asked him.

"I was doing... 'other' jobs for your dad."

"Tell me everything, Cole."

He looked up at me with a slight cringe. "I don't want you to think I'm a bad person."

"Tell me." My voice was shaky.

"I was doing hits!" he finally admitted.

I sighed, trying to think about what was the right thing to say. "You're not a bad person. If you would have told me this yesterday I probably would be been pissed. I understand now though. It's just a job."

He looked up at me with a relieved look. I pulled him into a hug.

There was a pound on the office door. Colby walked over and answered it. Julian was standing there.

"We found someone lurking on the property. She's downstairs, " he spoke to Colby but he kept glancing at me.

"She?" I asked.

"I'll be down there. Give me a second." Colby shut the door and turned back to me. "You can come with but don't let whoever it is see you."

I followed Colby into a dark room in the basement. I didn't even know this room existed.

I stayed by the door while Colby walked up to the figure. She had light brown hair and was slumped over. They had her duck tapped to a chair. There was a light above her head.

She looked up when Colby walked over. I recognized her.

"So you're Colby. Why do more of her guys keep coming down here? I want to talk to Valerie."

"Why were you on our property?" Colby asked her sternly.

"Why are you cheating on your girlfriend?"

Colby tensed up when she said that. He was getting mad. I now knew exactly who this was. Colby looked at me which caught the girls attention.

"Oh, there you are." The girl smiled at me.

I walked forward and stood next to Colby. "Hey, Amely."
