It had been 2 weeks since the supposed "Phoenix King" was defeated by Aang and the rest of the Gaang. The world entered full rebuild mode, and Aang did whatever he could to support it when trouble or resistance occurred. It had only happened about 3 times, so Aang and Katara had a bunch of time to hang out, but they had never gone on a proper date before. They both probably saw it to weird to go on a date in the public setting, he was the Avatar afterall. Everyone would want to see them. Everyone would want them to eat at their restaurant, girls would be going crazy, and we already know how jealous that makes Katara, so they had stayed in private situations when they were together, to prevent any other issues from happening. Over the last 2 weeks, Aang had aged another year, now 14, Katara would be 15 for 2 more months, so this was the closest their ages could've matched together.
"Uhum.." sighed Zuko. "Fire Nation troops are being evaluated, and the one who have committed war crimes or anything worse are to be kicked out of the army." Zuko said, proud he could do something to help the rebuild. His father was the one responsible for the destruction of the planet, after all.
"Okay Zuko. But you need to work towards the colonial aspect of things. You still need an army. Something to take care of your safety, as well as your nation. Make sure that things are alright." Aang said. Ever since they had defeated Ozai, he had become a lot more... responsible. His views on society and what was going on around them had changed. Katara, Sokka, and Zuko had noticed. Zuko nodded.
"But Aan-" Katara started. Aang put his hand up shaking his head. "These colonies are being populated by two different types of people. That's problematic. We need to at least do something." Said Aang. Although the opinion may have seemed a bit biased towards the fire nation, everyone nodded, even Zuko. After about another 15 minutes, the meeting had concluded, and Aang walked out with Katara.
"Listen, sweetie, I was thinking... the road to the colonies, and what we have to do in the colonies... it's going to be dangerous and also kind of... long." said Aang. Katara was confused.
"Okay, and?" She said. Aang gave her a look. "Okay, I'm sorry. I didn't say that right. What are you trying to say to me?" she said with an innocent tone.
"I know we've been trying to stay out of the public picture, but I wanted to go on a proper date with you Katara. It's been a little while since we've made it official." Aang gently locked their hands together. "We need to go out and it just be us. For a night." added Aang. Although Katara was scared that the public and the citizens might get in the way, she was glad he was the one asking first.
"Aang, I'd really like that." she said, cupping his cheek and kissing it gently. Afterwards, she went home to cook and make sure Sokka wasn't doing something he shouldn't. Aang was excited that Katara had said yes. He wanted to show her how much he loved her. They hadn't been together for a month yet, not even 3 weeks. But he still knew how he felt. And he wanted her to know that.
In about 2 hours, in a air-nomad styled suit, he knocked up for Katara. (A/N): In this reality, Ba Sing Se completely rebuilt, and had houses reserved for all different people, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation, Water Tribes, and a single house for Aang.) Katara answered soon after, with a sapphire blue dress, with white stripes highlighting the edges of the dress. Aang said to himself... She is so pretty, so gorgeous. How did I get this lucky? At the same time, Katara was glaring at his suit, impressed that he had gotten a suit tailored with air-nomad orange and yellow, especially now. Had he gotten the suit just for this night? She blushed to the thought of it.
"Sweetie, are you ready?" asked Aang.
"Ready, sweetie." she replied back. She took his hand in hers, and they walked together, over to the upper ring, where they would find the nicest restaurants in all of Ba Sing Se.
After 15 minutes of searching for a restaurant that wasn't completely full or there wasn't a 50 person reservation line, they found a restaurant that noticed them and let them sit at one of their nicest tables, with a single candle in the middle. "Hello, my name is Reylu, and I'll be your waiter tonight. Can we start you off with drinks?" asked the waiter.
"Hmm... can I get a... Sokka Cola?" asked Aang, impressed with the fact that Sokka was finally getting some appreciation.
"Of course, and how about you, Avatar's love?" said the waiter, adding a dramatic tone to the last word. Katara rolled her eyes, but chuckled. "I'll get an ice cold water please." asked Katara, and he politely nodded and walked away. Usually, Aang would have asked for a water. But it was a special occasion. They had waited a few more minutes, completely silent other than a few funny conversations, but that was just about it. "Here you are." the waiter walked over and handed them their drinks, they smiled lightly and nodded a thank you gesture.
"Nice guy." said Aang, sipping his Sokka Cola. Katara agreed. "What's wrong, sweetie? You've been really quiet." asked Aang, a tiny bit scared.
"I'm sorry sweetie. I'm just not feeling that great." Katara answered back.
"Well if you're not feeling good, we don't have to stay. We can pay for the drinks and get out of here." Responded Aang. Katara nodded. She must've been feeling sick. They waited for the waiter, explained, and he understood. He brought them their tiny bill, and they headed home. "G'night sweetie." Aang said.
"No! Sokka is out with Toph tonight. Can't you come over?" She asked, with puppy eyes.
Aang sighed, "okay." he said back. They walked into the house together. It had been about 15 minutes. Katara had went to go take a bath. Usually, she would take a shower, but she wasn't feeling well and she didn't want to stand.
Aang knocked. "Katara, sweetie? Are you okay?" he asked, seriously concerned.
"Ye-yeah. I'm fine. Just give me a few minutes." Katara said. About 5 minutes later Katara once again spoke up. "Hey... sweetie? I know this might sound awkward but... I can't get my shirt on. I got my bra on fine but my shirt..." she said, she sounded like she was blushing, even through the wall.
"O..okay, but you have to unlock the door for me." Aang said, which was true. How was he supposed to help her if she couldn't even open the door? She unlocked it, and he walked in. He could see her female biceps, her curves, everything about her. They were a bit young, but Aang knew that when she would need help, he would always be there.
"Aang... sweetie... you have to put the shirt on me... not your eyes..." Katara said. She looked very tired. Before she or he could protest, he helped Katara put on the shirt. She was very thankful that he had helped her. She hung onto him, and he held up her weight, being very protective.
"Sweetie, if you're this tired, you should really consider going to bed." Aang said. Katara knew she couldn't keep herself awake, or say anything against it, because he was right, and nodded. They both found their way to the bed. Aang hugged onto Katara, and gave her one goodnight's kiss, and helped her under the covers. He stayed next to her, to comfort her. He watched as she slowly drifted into a sleep. After a little while, he also, fell asleep, his hands around her. Just like they had so long ago.
