I peeked through the door, looking at the crowd feeling on edge, nervous, and anxious at the same time for many reasons. My beloved Ezra still wasn't here. I'm pregnant, and my dad wasn't here on my special day, walking me down the aisle, seeing my wedding dress assuring me that everything would fine because he doesn't want to see his daughter worry. Well, as Camille said, screw him; I don't need him then, and I certainly don't need him now. Oh, and the other thing? Well, I might be doing something.
''Alright, Ash,'' said Camille clapping her hands, snapping me outside my thoughts. ''The band got everything together, everything is set'' Her eyes twinkle with mischievous ''You ready?''
I took a deep breath. Am I ready? For this new adventure for this new life, that's all coming my way. Absolutely not, but am I ready for the new responsibility that is coming? No, but would I trade it for anything else? No. No, I would not.
''No fucking way,'' I heard Camille said looking at the door before I could even ask what happened. The door opened, and my father, who once had a cave-man beard but is now all shave off looking 30-years younger, appear with a bright simile on his face.
''Dad?'' Me and Camille said
''Girls?'' Dad said, mocking our shocked faces laughing, ''Can I get a hug?'' he held his arms wide, and we gladly took it. Feeling his warm embrace and hearing his deep laughter as he stroke both of our backs, ''You didn't think I would leave you guys hanging'' he mumbled through our hairs ''Especially on your wedding day'' he said, looking at me. For a moment, I could have sworn I see a flash of sadness, but it quickly eased when he simile ''You look so beautiful'' he whispered.
I flashed a small simile of gratitude ''Thanks'' I said back. Dad looked around the bridal suite, I guess, taking everything as he seems impressed by the decor of everything, then he looked at us with the microphones in our hands, giving us confused looks.
''We're creating a distraction,'' said, Camille giving us an encouraging simile ''Ezra and Frankie isn't here yet'' ''So were singing The Song'' I said
''Not The Song'' Dad said, flashing a simile
''Yeah,'' I replied ''The Song'' ''That we promise we won't sing.EVER'' I crossed my arm we made avowed never to sing this song, and I can't believe that we have to sing it
''But you can't do it without your lead singer,'' Dad said, grabbing a microphone flashing a simile
In an instant, my nerves seem to vanish as we walked to the stage and making sure the instruments and everything else is okay; just looking at Dad and Camille giving encouraged and reassured looks let me know that everything is going to fine and if not, that it would be a good story to tell afterward.
''Oh wait'' Dad said before the drums began to play ''I almost forgot something''. He looks through the crowd almost like he was searching for someone ''Now?'' Camille replied, but Dad waver her off and wave at someone, a guy with a leather jacket-wearing a black baseball cap.
''Sorry for the wait lad'' the guy said, giving my dad a fist pump ''They had shrimp, and I couldn't resist'' He grabbed a guitar and gave it a new tune ''Alright, looks good'' he said ''Let's rock'' he shouted his voice oddly familiar.
''Hello everybody'' shouted my dad through the mic, causing everybody to stop what they're doing. ''One of the many things that my daughters wanted was to spend time with me, but due to my busy schedule I just couldn't found the time'' he said, looking at the crowd ''And I spent so much time working chasing the money it causes me to lose everything especially the one thing that matters'' he gave us guilty looks ''But I promise that's all going to change starting now with The Song'' he smile ''Hit it Charlie'' he screamed
The guy with the leather jacket plays the guitar in a fast motion then Camille started to sing:
''Last week been a bore
There a been a bunch of chores to do
There are so many things that I want to tell you.''
She looks at giving me an encouraging nod as I started to sing:
''But know matters what happens
I always got you.''
Dad gripped the microphone.
''No matter if you are in the seas
Or in just a billion galaxies far away.''
Then together we sang:
''So you know if you got something to say
Then Call ME''
''Aw shit'' I heard a voice. I glanced, and it was Ezra and Frankie with some clean-shaven guy looking at us both looking shocked yet at the same time amused.
''Ladies and gentlemen said Dad'' I would like to introduce to you a dear friend of mine, Charlie Reyes'' Instantly, the crowd began to scream louder, and I glance at Ezra and Frankie whose looked so shocked.
''The thanks, man,'' Charlie said, taking off his baseball cap. ''I got tired of wearing this thing,'' he replied, taking the mic causing the crowd to laugh. He looked at me and sang:
''Call me if you need me.''
''Call me if you need me'' I sang back
''Call me if you are lonely'' Camille sang
''Call me if you don't even have nothing to say
Call me if you're afraid.
Call me if I'm even a mile away,'' I sang back.
'' Either way, call me'' Charlie sang back then belt out a high note that makes the whole crowd cheer
''Call me'' We all sang back as everybody cheered a clap for us
''Let's clap for the happy couple,'' Charlie said as he flashed a simile at me. ''Let's head to the wedding.''
