Nightime has arrived as I glance at the stars wishing for some miracle tonight. Since Ezra is having a concert tonight, I figure the best way to talk to him is to meet him there and hope for the best.
''We have arrived'' The driver said.
''Thanks''Mary said as we both got out of the car and entered backstage through the venue with our backstage pass. Since it was nearly the end of the concert when we entered, there was movement all over as everyone was moving in all directions, yet as we entered, we immediately saw Frankie talking to a guy with the clipboard.
''I don't care what's going on. I need my chips,'' Frankie said as me and Mary walked towards him. ''Ladies,'' Frankie said, leaning against a pillar and crossing his arms, ''It's been a while how are you doing?'' Frankie asked, looking at me ''Fine Have you seen Ezra?'' I asked.
Frankie nodded. ''He's backstage gathering his things''
I nodded as me and Mary walked through a narrow hallway displaying only one door labeled ''Backstage'' I gave a soft knock on the door. ''Come In,'' Ezra shouted. I opened the door and saw many unfamiliar people there except for Charlie Reyes, who was just strumming away on his guitar.
''Can everyone please leave the room? I would like to speak to my husband in private'' I said. Yet no one, not even Ezra, has heard what I just said either that or they ignore me. Mary sighed and walked to the speaker to pull the cord. Everybody sighed and grumbled ''Everybody leaves now Ashley wants to speak to her husband'' She held the door wide open as everybody left in line; she gave me a small simile and closed the door softly behind her. Leaving Ezra and me alone for the first time since our wedding just a couple of months ago. I took one look at Ezra who was eating a pretzel on the sofa not really looking at me but instead just writing something in his notebook. I absentmindedly rubbed my belly as a reminder of why I'm having this conversation for the sake of our child and marriage.
''Ezra we need to talk'' I said sitting next to him on the sofa.
''Of course, I'm all ears'' Ezra said still not looking at me
I sighed ''Ezra lately I've been feeling neglected lately'' I stated
''Umm'' Ezra said
''And I feel you're not spending time with us the Baby and Me. And I'll just really appreciate it if you just make and spend time with us'' I said. I looked at Ezra who is still writing in his notebook, so I grabbed his notebook and tossed it to the other side of the room.
''Ashley what the hell?'' Ezra shouted ''What is going on with you?''
''Oh so you finally know that I existed'' I said ''if I would have known to make a dramatic gesture to get your attention then I would have done it months ago''
''Ashley what's wrong?'' Ezra asked ''Is it the baby should we make an appointment?''
''No!'' I nearly shouted ''It's about you and us and our marriage and the fact that we haven't spent time alone since our honeymoon''
''Well, Ashley I'm sorry. But-''
''Stop apologizing and actually do something about it'' I said ''Because so far you haven't done anything since we even got on the tour besides performing, doing interviews, and meeting with Charlie Reyes''
''Ashley isn't this what you wanted? Ezra gestured backstage with his arms wide open. ''Your the one who suggested this in the first place'' Ezra said.
''Yeah because I couldn't imagine you giving this all up for me and our family but if I had known you were going to do this then I wouldn't have-'' I paused
''Have what? Married me? '' Ezra asked
''No suggest this in the first place'' I whispered ''Ezra you know my past. About my parents. And I don't want to repeat these same mistakes. I don't want our child to grow up going through the same experiences I did. Overall I want our child to be loved.'' I said standing up '' So you have to decide what you want for your life? Music or your family?''
''Ashley it's not that I don't want this'' he said holding my hands ''I do I truly do it's just were on tour and were already booked and busy, and we can't give all of this up now'' Ezra said. I looked at Ezra's eyes, and immediately memories of us began to flood through my mind. When we first met, our first kiss, our date, to when he proposed, our wedding day to here being on different paths. I sighed looking away from Ezra opening the door. ''Well I guess I have my answer''
''Ashley wait'' Ezra said holding my hand. I stood in my doorway a sparkle of hope danced inside me thinking maybe he would change his mind. He looked at me and hold the side of my cheek ''Just think about it'' he said. Before I closed the door.
By the next day, the sun spilled out in my window I turned over to the other side seeing how it's always been lately. Empty. I sighed going to the bathroom and getting dressed I couldn't believe that Ezra had chosen his music career over his child. Over me. Yet Ezra made his decision, so I have to respect that and just move forward without him and focus on our child. I packed my suitcase filled with my things and threw a note I wrote to Ezra on the bed. I looked around the room making sure I hadn't left anything. Then left.
When I exit the hotel a black car approached by the steps. I hand my suitcase to the driver who places it in the trunk. I closed the car door when I got inside.
''Are you sure you want to do this?'' Mary said
I nodded ''He had already made his choice so I have to be used to mine''
Mary nodded ''Driver take us to airport''
