''Thank You, Berlin I love you'' I shouted to the crowd as they roared in response. I exit out of the curtain feeling drained and emotionally exhausted. A guy nearby tossed me a water bottle, and I drowned all the water within a second. I headed backstage without talking to anyone and slammed the door. For a second, I enjoyed the bliss of silence of nobody coming and asking me for autographs to listen to their latest song of anything. Until I glance at the note by the coffee table. I opened and read it over just like I had ever since I landed here.
Dear Ezra,
I've seen you for years being dedicated to your music to your fans, and I didn't want to be the wedge of your music which was the main reason I agreed for you to do the tour. However, when I discovered I was pregnant, I envisioned our life with our child, teaching them 1-2-3s and ABCs, taking and picking them up from school, and preparing them for Prom. I envisioned our child's life with 2 attentive parents that would love them no matter who they are. But now I see that we don't share that same vision of our marriage or even being parents. So I'm leaving. I need time to think.
-Ashley
I paced back and forth, calling Ashley, but I kept getting voicemail. I searched her social media for clues anything that could tell me where she at but got nothing new.
''Stop calling her'' said Frankie leaning against the door ''Give her time''
I threw my phone on the coffee table and sighed as I flopped on the sofa ''She's gone pregnant with my child. How am I going to get her back?''
Frankie sighed ''Don't take this the wrong way. But I don't think you can get her back''
I sighed 'How can you say that? Frankie I-''
''You didn't do anything Frankie shouted ''In the entire 3 months of this tour, you been performing, doing interviews, and heading out to the studio, laughing it up with Charlie Reyes. You didn't even bother to see how Ashley was doing, and she is pregnant with your child'' Frankie sat by the edge of the sofa and gave me a pat on the back ''If I was Ashley be wondering why I didn't do it sooner'' Frankie laughed
I sighed and pushed him off the edge as his laughter roared ''You're an Ass'' I stated as I took my phone from the coffee table. I check the screen for notifications, all from social media and the record label but none from Ashley.
''Stop looking at the phone'' Frankie said as he grabbed my phone. I reached for it, but he just held it high in the air, and since I'm shorter than him I stopped trying. ''Look just give her time to think''
''I guess you are right'' I said ''Well I suppose we should do something?''
''Yeah but were you going to go'' Frankie said
I shrugged ''I'm not sure. How about a bar?'' I asked
''Great!'' Frankie smiled ''As long as your paying''
Smith's was a bar not too far out from where we were living I glanced at the bright neon sign welcoming us in as Frankie opened the door and walked through. Immediately he sat and leaned forward on the chair looking at the menu as I did the same. Only a few minutes went by when a bartender appears
''Hello'' she said flashing a simile ''What would it be?''
''I have a beer'' Frankie said ''With Fish and Chips''
The bartender nodded as she wrote down the order on a pad. ''And you sir?''
''I have tea and Fish with Chips''
The bartender nodded and walked away. I glanced absentmindedly at the TV that was displaying a boxing match that seemed to be showing what I was currently going through what now. When Ashley told me that she was pregnant I was excited, thrilled by the sure fact that I would be a father, and dedicated my whole life to another person besides Ashley. But then when I got on stage hearing thousands of people chanting my name I realized that I needed to act now, that I needed to make an album and finally put my music/celebrity life on hold until hopefully, the child grows older enough. I had the plan set, and sure the album would take me away from Ashley and the pregnancy, but I thought we would somehow make it through. After all, isn't that what Marriage is about sticking it through?
I sighed heavily as I grabbed a warm fry. As the saying goes I truly fuck up.
''Stop'' Frankie said dipping his fish in tarter sauce ''You're making me nauseous''
''Really?'' I asked ''This is not cheering me up''
''Didn't know I'm supposed to be a jester?''
''Frankie I'm serious I messed up bad, and I don't know how to fix it'' I said ''I know you say to don't call, but I'm on the verge of calling''
Frankie sighed ''Look it's no lie. You fucked up, but Ashley still loves you. Why? Because if she didn't she wouldn't have left a note or tried to talk to you like she did earlier if she didn't love you then sh wouldn't keep trying even though it's obvious you weren't getting the hints. '' I pushed Frankie playfully as our laughter roared in the bar.
Towards the end of the night, Frankie and I headed back to the hotel room. Just as I placed my phone on the charger and was about to go to bed I heard a ping notification followed by a text on my phone screen from Ashley that read:
Can we talk?
